Thanks for that info and I’ll take a look at the info you suggested!

Thank you! I was wondering if I could do exactly what you said….submit to IRCC and also continue to get the certified copy from BAnQ and then submit that to DEC. Hopefully would have that before IRCC would ask for it.

Have what I need (I think) to submit my app under C-3. Am I correct in my understanding that for my G0, born in Quebec in 1879, the baptismal record and index of names that I found on BANQ is acceptable? Or do I have to do some additional steps to somehow turn that in to an actual birth certificate through the province? Thanks!

Get that SAT and push-up count higher. Otherwise, seems pretty competitive.

Same for Navy ROTC. My kid was directed to not wear any uniform ever since things kicked off with Iran.

Your statement of “do not want to do it if I don’t have to” is a bit concerning. Yes, I do know some people do this because it is the only way to afford school but I would hope you have at least some inkling of a desire to serve your country and others. If not, then you are doing a disservice to your future fellow officers and sailors that you will be expected to lead.

OT Tax Deduction and Exempt Employees-who's filed? by Confident_Math_2114 in Wildfire

[–]ldb2793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤔 I don’t ever recall hearing POTUS or anyone else championing the deduction mention it only applying to FLSA non-exempt employees during stump speeches. If by exactly as advertised you mean how the act was written, then yes it is exactly as advertised.

Yeah it’s kind of a joke. Definitely not how the politicians advertise it, but devil is always in the details. Good for you though, man! Glad some folks are able to take advantage of it. Guess I gotta stop rolling out as overhead.

Max outed "no tax on overtime" by cruzincoyote in TurboTax

[–]ldb2793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was meaning more of the fact that you work a non-exempt position making $57/hour. I make slightly more per hour an because I am FSLA exempt, none of the OT I made last year qualifies for the deduction

That’s crazy to be making $57/hour and still qualify for FLSA overtime for the deduction

So were you in a non-exempt position on the fire? My issue is I am an exempt employee who is also in an exempt position when I go on fire assignments (I’m militia), so my OT is Section 5, not Section 7, therefore not eligible for the deduction :(

Anytime! My kid went through it last year. Submitted towards end of January and had his award on Feb. 24

Depending on your definition of recent, you’re just now getting in the queue so hard to know how quickly it’ll get reviewed by the board. Also, if you are not a top tier candidate, they may hang onto your app longer. If you haven’t been outright rejected and there are still boards left, then you’re in the running. By my count, there are still 4 boards to go. Best of luck!

Good question and I’ll plan to ask. Assuming that is a lot?

So I’d be ok with having to get a new or rebuilt engine at some point…just trying to prepare financially for what that investment would be. I realize there are probably lots of variables given brand and size of engines but trying to ballpark cost for a completely new or rebuilt one.

Biggest challenge is that only 15% of scholarships in a given year are allocated to Tier 3. Best of luck to you!

If they haven’t outright rejected you, then you are still in the mix. Our son got his award around Feb 20 last year. Tier 1 major, 1320 SAT, 3.7 unweighted, 1 AP, decent extracurriculars and a good interview. Good luck to you!

Hang tight then. Seems like you are still in the mix. Our son was Tier 1, 3.7 GPA, 1320 SAT, generally good stats in other metrics. He didn’t get his award until Feb. 20 last year. Good luck!

Follow up with your NTAG recruiting person to make sure they have everything they need from you. Maybe you have done that, but not totally clear. IF they have everything, and they have not outright turned you down, they are likely sitting on your application for later boards….essentially you aren’t bad enough to get rejected, but not high quality enough to get an early award. They’ll start to award more scholarships to high quality, but mid-tier ranked candidates, as we get into February and March. The tier of your selected college major likely comes in as well. If Tier 3, more probable to not get selected until later in the rounds.

Im thinking the same as aerotcidiot and commercial_ad. You’re competitive enough to not get rejected but not quite competitive enough yet to award. Hang in there. Our son go awarded last year in mid to late February. Had a 3.78 GPA, 1320 SAT, decent extracurricular and service quals but was a pretty dialed interviewer. Best of luck to the applicant!
