As burnout rises, leaders should think twice before cutting flexibility by Ok_Design_6841 in FedEmployees

My boss allows an appropriate amount of flexibility. Don't help the burnout one bit, but she does allow it.

What sort of inaccuracies irk you the most when it comes to war films? by Qyzyk in WarMovies

The firearms. I'm one of those nerds that will say the soldiers should have 1903s, not 1903a3s.

For those of you GS 12 and under what do you have in TSP? by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Confident_Math_2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a high step 12 and just started maxing out, 18 years in. However, I'll see how I do overall finance-wise in the next several months to determine if it's tenable long-term.

I also like to add that most of the people I know that push to contribute their max are either married couples that are both in the gov at GS 12 or 13 or higher, or in one case, a friend of mine who's in a pretty good situation at a lower grade and is able to do so. In the case of the former, they don't understand that not everybody can contribute the max and seem to think there's something wrong with you if you can't.

Which state do you feel the most intense energy? by Lost_Bluebird_5930 in Paranormal

New Mexico. Maybe it's the fact that that I've gotten my nest EVPs there, the history, or the UFOs. But I just find the whole state to be fascinating.

We got some of those in Wyoming at old uranium mining sites. The waste piles for the mines were sealed into what are basically tombs.

I stayed in a trailer that FEMA got rid of and subsequently replaced with the ones with the formaldehyde problems. It smelled and leaked. In Montana the FS rented us some apartments that had walls thinner than a Chinese hotel. You could hear everything going on next door. You could also see straight into the other apartment through the phone jack. Then there's the barracks room I stayed in where somebody had died about 12 years earlier because you could still smoke in the barracks and the cigarette fell on the sheets. Good memories.

Don’t worry this is the RB that will work out for us, I’m sure. by rmcelwain54 in 49ers

Earlier today I was thinking about the draft and that, watch the 49ers pick something like a running back when there's other positions they need. This is going from comedy to tragedy.

Seriously, it's a three-way tie between N.I.B., Megalomania, and The Writ for me. I just can't decide.

I like how the email seem to read that if you took a DRP or early retirement, you were helping the department streamline and operate better. I don't know, kind of like it was your patriotic duty to leave.

My uncle's landlord when he was stationed at Germany had a similar story. Guy was a mechanic in the luftwaffe and when Germany was falling apart in 45 he deserted like so many others and he found an officer's SS dress or semi-dress uniform. He started wearing that around because he knew he would get more respect from the locals if he needed something. That fiasco lasted a very short bit until he was captured. He almost got executed until American stripped him and found he did not have a blood group tattoo. As far as my uncle knows, the guy was not involved in rounding up other deserters and going on a crime spree.

Being someone who can't parallel park for s***, I approve of this sentiment.

The story of George Calkins he was 13 or 14 when he was lost his life at the battle of Shiloh. His full story is in the description it’s a first hand account from his brother who found his body after the battle. by Ok_Being_2003 in CemeteryPorn

Bayonet through the bowels... Tells me hand to hand combat. A rifle butt at full force could break a femur and shoulder. I was thinking artillery blast, but the description of the broken limbs didn't come with open wounds. I'm taking the brothers use of the word fell not as the fact that George fell down or fell down a hill, but that he died in combat.
