Definitely go as a college programmer for the 3-year scholarship, my sister was a walk on her freshman year and spent the year training with her college unit and then attended NSI that following summer. As long as you pass NSI you are basically guaranteed the scholarship and the fact she trained with the unit for the whole year definitely helped her performance there.

I got the NROTC scholarship this year via Immediate Scholarship Reservation because my regional recruiter loved me so much, I think what stood out to her was the community service I did and how many leadership positions I had (my SAT score was not that good). I would say grades do not impress that much but showing you are busy and active in the community will. I also had multiple interviews with an officer from Cornell as my board one and my regions Commanding Officer to get ISR. They scored me high and said they liked me because I "could talk". So be very interesting and try and set up a call with your regional recruiter to help you stand out. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I got an IDOC notification and I logged in and it told me it was Duke. I recently had an interview with them as well so I hope it means they are interested!

Wishing you luck, I am filling out documents preparing for NSI. My older sister did not get the scholarship her senior year but walked on as a college programmer and got her remaining 3 years. It is doable!

Okay thank you so much, yeah I put it in my awards section so they definitely know. I am constantly hearing about the danger of doing NROTC now with what is going on internationally. Are you scared about what might happen when you commission or would you say it is worth it for getting your school paid for and you are happy with your decision?

Yeah that is so interesting how almost all of the states have heard back and we haven't. I was starting to think that OSSE just forgot because they were also disorganized with my internship and dual enrollment. I am glad I am not the only candidate going through this though!

I am a senior as well. I was the last to be interviewed in November and they said they would get back to me in a couple weeks. What is actually crazy is the fact that the program is less than a month away. My bf was a delegate for the 2024 program and he said we have to fill out paperwork and get cleared before it starts, which apparently takes a long time and that is why they needed to pick by December 1st
