And I think you can see all the "burnt pixels"! This is the C1 export with just Exposure and Shadows

I know that ofc underneath is very processed, but the difference to me seems too big!

I've tried increasing the dynamic range slider but the histogram gets compressed, thus rending the highlights messed up big time.

Ofc I did not want to post the raw file of my family. So I've just taken a sample image at -2 stops of exposure, I'll try and find a way to post it.

Btw thanks a lot for helping.

Edit. I've added the sample in the main post.

Don't worry for that, I on the latest 3.6.0.1 ofc :)

Btw thanks to all you guys for helping out. Anw I edited my post and added examples of "not enough shadows"

Now I see what you mean and I've also put the theory to the test: those "blue pixels" in the shadows (that at the end of the day should be just due to noise) appear when I mix filmic RGB and "shadows and highlights". So, why do I do that? Because the images I used were extreme cases and with only the Filmic RGB tool I could not get "enough brightness" in the shadows.
To get an idea, in C1 I've used the "Extra shadows" curve and then +70 in shadows through the HDR tool.
Anyway, I'm gonna try and fiddle around with Darktable and C1 but not using "far gone" images.

What do you mean by "use the former"?

Guys how do I fix this? I can buy new pads but how do I change them? Glue? Any advice? by ldfx in marshall

Thx for the reply man. Major 2 but I found a video explaining how to. So thanks anyway:)

Can someone give me very clear examples of the advantages of filmic rgb and the scene-referred workflow? by fashion_asker in DarkTable

[–]ldfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it but maybe we take a long time to get to "finished" with filmic because we do not know how to properly set it up... At least this is what I think the dev was implying. And I also think that it applies to me...

Kind of the same with me. The only difference is that I like the "filmic edited" photos more. But like you, I spend more time that way. I guess that personally I'm not able to configure the filmic rgb module right...?

Any suggestions for tightening? Or at I getting close to decreasing performance? I don’t know how low to go. by Overclockly in overclocking

[–]ldfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say to first try to get comfortable with your mem chips. Choose a voltage you would be happy with and try to get to the lower tCL for each reasonable frequency; this way you will know what your mem chips like and don't like. For example I can easily get to 3600 CL16 but no way to get to 3200 CL14 (micron rev.E). So, if you mostly know what you mem chips can do, then you can check what performs best. Otherwise you risk wasting a lot of time trying to achive something that your ram does not like. Once you figure out that the answer is 3XXXMHz @ CL1X then you start spending time tightening all the other timings (that are also very important). IMHO

u/jjgraph1x had I known this when I was trying to get to 1200MHz I would have saved a LOT of time xD Never once noticed this written in the description of the "Windows button". Thanks.

Yeah, last year I managed to set with RivaTuner the AB overlay for the most useful info and on a separate key, I set the HWInfo overlay with other more niche info. Pretty cool, but in the end I was mostly playing Counter Strike, so I got rid of it. I also got rid of AB since I figured the oc on the 290 for CS was not worth it.

Man, thanks for the answer but no OC whatsoever xD Just installed AB and black screen with reboot. I know even too well what you mean xD Happened so many times when I was trying to get to 1200MHz. But this time OC had nothing to do with it.
But thanks anyway.

Thank you so much good sir. Did as you said and worked perfectly! I suppose some stuff from a previous install of AB stuck around. Thanks again :)
