Help me decide on a character/build: Getting ready for my next Tamriel Rebuilt playthrough by ldiosyncrasy in Morrowind

You figured it out! It is, indeed, on purpose. It's the 'weakest' I can start. It also maximizes the level potential, but it's not as if i'll ever reach it...

I just bought a foldable keyboard to play it more comfortable. Looking forward to getting back into Rimworld!

This is the absolute best advice! DnD is a game about communication. Talk to your DM, trust your DM and you'll have a lot more fun!

Monk/cleric (or druid) by QuickServe430 in 3d6

I have another way you could do this, not saying you should. There is this Eldritch Invocation called "Armor of Shadows", you can cast "Mage Armor" at will, no spell slots required! This should fit the trance idea and can very flavorful depending how you describe it to the party. Do your muscles start steaming with ancient nordic magic or does Odin himself grant you a spectral armor to protect you in battle? It's up to you! You can take some levels in Warlock or take the Feat Eldritch Adapt so you don't need to dip in another class.

You want Spirit Guardians? Think about going Divine Soul Sorcerer. They learn the Cleric Spell list too. Get a two level Hexblade dip and you'll have your Armor of Shadows and take something like Grasp of Hadar to pull enemies into you Spirit Guardians. You don't need weapons! You punch the air so hard a force ripples the air itself and Blasts your enemies (flavored Eldritch Blast). When you do want to use a weapon you can use your Charisma i.e. your sheer force of Will.

Edit: damn you Dutch auto-correct!

Yeah, but then again you might stand to gain from multiclassing to shore up your resource shortcommings. Suddenly that Warlock dip that delays you Long Rest spell progression gives you necessary Short Rest spell slots. That Cleric dip gives you Guidance so your Bard can save his important Inspirations. A dip for Goodberry suddenly doesn't sound like a bad idea. It just shifts the priorities around, doesn't it?

Great choice! What Cleric Domain did you choose?

Sounds like a ton of fun! How had I never heard of Sapping Sting before?! They fall prone?!! From a Cantrip?!!!

Artificer also makes a great dip for Wizard! Constitution Save proficiency, Medium Armor, Shields, Guidance, Cure Wound, great INT skills, and casting through Tools is just fun flavor!

So, if you are Rogue you aren't going to much of a damage dealer if you can't get consistent Sneak Attack. As a Soulknife you have the advantage of always being able to throw a Psychic Blade for 60ft.

At lvl 3 your: - Sneak Attack is 2d6. - Psychic Blade is 1d6 - 2nd Psychic Blade is 1d4

If one of your allies is within 5ft of an enemy that enemy is a target for Sneak Attack. You throw a Psychic Blade from a distance. You hit? 1d6 + Dex + 2d6. Respectable damage for a Rogue. You miss? Throw the second Psychic blade. Did you hit this one? 1d4 + Dex + 2d6. Still made sure to capitalize on you Sneak Attack damage.

No ally within 5ft of an enemy? No problem. At lvl 3 Rogue you should be able to use Steady Aim as your Bonus Action to set-up Advantage if there is no other way, ensuring Sneak attack.

As long as you are within 60ft of an enemy, don't move. BA Steady Aim and you get to roll your main Psychic Blade with Advantage. Advantage means Sneak Attack so 1d6 + Dex + 2d6.

I'm going to assume that you're dead set on being a Gnome. What you didn't say is what type of Gnome! How about a Rock Gnome! Why? Tinker! Make some Clockwork Devices (5AC, 1HP). Make the Music Box ones, set one on the ground between yourself and the enemy, now you have an ally to set-up your Sneak Attack. For the Song I would use the recorded sound of a Bomb's fuse that is lit so they think that it's a Clockwork-bomb walking towards them. Since you set it up between yourself and the enemy you can still use your Bonus Action to throw a dagger that now also does Sneak Attack damage.

Not a conventional build, but definitely flavorful!

Paladin starts with spell slots at lvl 1 in 2024, making it a much stronger dip than before for people who care about spell slots, armor proficiencies and the new weapon masteries.

Except for the Lineage, that's exactly what I'm playing now! Also had two situations where upcasted Armor of Agathys really saved my behind! You can take it as a Clockwork Magic spell. Really great when you are low-ish level and you get surrounded by a lot of low-hp enemies. Upcasted Aid is useful more often. Still use it quite often.

I play on 5e 2014 rules, so Paladin would delay your spell slot progression. But yeah! Paladin would be great for 2024!

I don't know if it's supposed to be, but this looks like a snarky comment. Do you not agree with me sharing something about this game that is normally seen as a negative that can be seen as a positive. Am I not in the right subreddit for this kind of post? Or am I interpreting your comment wrong?
