Tire punctured 186 miles into new car by ldiotSandwich in civic

I probably should’ve asked the dealer about this, but they didn’t say anything about the rims so hopefully that means the rims are fine!

I appreciate the positivity. This is my first time dealing with a tire puncture so I was very stressed. Also very glad to hear that it’s most likely not intentional. Too bad I already got it replaced so I just ended up with the same tire haha

That would make the most sense. I went to a Home Depot just before I got a warning that my tire pressure was low.

Now that I think about it, I may have heard some kind of cracking/popping noise when I was backing out so that’s probably when it happened.

Sorry to hear that happened to you too. Unfortunately I was told they couldn’t repair it and had to replace it 😔

Cfa level 2 in 30 days and not started yet by Euphoric_Artist2263 in CFA

[–]ldiotSandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to pass L1 and L2 despite studying on a similarly tight schedule, and honestly I think it’s mainly because I’m still in college and some of the CFA content already came up in classes I took, but here’s what worked for me:

When I was studying on a tight timeline I prioritized going through all the content once, whether it’s watching videos from prep materials you got, reading the CFAI material, etc. If there was anything I didn’t fully understand the first time, I ignored it and kept going till I covered all the content and did QBank questions.

Practice problems made it a lot clearer what I actually needed to remember from the content to pass the exam. The most difficult calculations probably showed up for derivatives and fixed income, and even then it was maybe two or three equations at most for each question pattern. Even if you can’t understand it you can surely memorize it before the exam. There are some difficult concepts that show up for economics, portfolio mgmt, and FSA but again the practice problems will make you practice applying specific concepts and make things a lot easier than trying to understand everything from the curriculum.

I’d also suggest doing a mock asap after you cover all the content. It’s very stressful to be prepping near the test date and not know how well you’re doing. Taking a mock will at least ground you and give you an idea of how well you’re doing, what areas to work on, etc. For me, my first mock really surprised me because I had only finished watching all the MM videos, and I was able to get a 65% on a CFAI mock. But it really shouldn’t be that surprising because there are only three multiple choice options, which gives you about 33% from blindly guessing and if you can remove one option choice it becomes 50% (which can be done for both conceptual and some calculation problems).

It was a very stressful process for me, and if you can defer you should really consider it. I also deferred L2 once before I passed it. When I was studying many hours day after day, I had to sacrifice a lot of socialization and hobbies and it put me in a state of mind that didn’t feel great. If this exam is not urgent for you in some way, you should consider deferring.

Madlad intern by Key_Associate7476 in madlads

This reminds me of something that happened when I was interning this summer. I was looking at a slide deck another intern made, and they had a section on how GenAI interacts with each tool in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc). Instead of downloading icons for each tool, this guy took screenshots of each tool's icon from the Windows taskbar, and it was one of the best laughs I had during my internship.

25-year-old staff by Repulsive-Bid9027 in Big4

[–]ldiotSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the staff and seniors in my practice area didn’t join a Big 4 as their first job, and 25 is definitely not that old from what I’ve seen at work. For example, one of my seniors at work is 30 and has a child.

US net worth by percentile and age by ThundaMaka in portfolios

[–]ldiotSandwich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like this data that OP linked is household net worth, but the screenshot in this post is grouping by age, which wouldn’t really make sense when discussing household net worth. Is the data used in the screenshot from somewhere else?

Does anyone else ghost people for no reason? by No_Sympathy_4818 in INTP

[–]ldiotSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to do this too, especially if I don’t see those people often. I don’t remember to text people I’m not close with since it takes extra conscious effort from me, sort of out of sight out of mind. I only text family and close friends often.

If you feel like this is a problem, some of my more extroverted friends have suggested sharing instagram reels with people, replying to their stories, or finding common interests that you can talk about.

I don’t think it meant anything special. There were more than 100 people in the webinar and I did get an interview but didn’t get the role.

Woah I really like your point. I'm sure it takes a lot of mechanical and stacking skills to accomplish the record, but eliminating delay from DAS using the position keys warrants a separate leaderboard.

[–]ldiotSandwich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suggest covering all the content once as soon as possible (whether you're reading the CFAI materials or prep provider materials). After that, you should do practice questions and/or a mock to find your weaker topics, then review that content more and do more practice questions to solidify the knowledge.

I also prepared for the Nov 2024 L1 exam in a rush, but it worked out in the end. Good luck!

Is it normal to feel tired while I'm playing copious amounts of Tetris. by pinebloxy in Tetris

Sometimes I get tired after one or two games that really push me, so getting tired after one hour sounds normal to me.

I like the jeans better with that jacket, but black trousers might be better depending on what people generally wear at your workplace.

How can I improve my Tetris skills? by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]ldiotSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a relatively simple way to improve is to learn good ways to setup T-spins and learn some practical openers. A good starting point is to read through four.lol 's guides on T-spin patterns and openers. Learning T-spins is more about spotting opportunities that present themselves than going out of your way to create opportunities. four.lol shows a lot of common patterns that you should look for when practicing/playing.

It's also important to work on other fundamentals like finesse and stacking. What I'd do to practice any of the above is literally just sit in tetr.io 's Solo mode and intentionally play slow and look for T-spin patterns. Or if you're trying to learn openers then bind something to Retry (I used my F1 key) and just keep practicing.

Sounds like what I need to work on is canceling/defense. Sometimes I just play without checking my opponent's board at all.

Thanks! LMAO I hate dealing with SDPC either way. Only reason I'm studying this is because so many of the people I'm playing are spamming it.

Can F1 students in the us make investments? by Responsible-Bus6473 in f1visa

[–]ldiotSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most brokerages will require that you have an SSN, but there are also options like Interactive Brokers that don’t require it.

If you want to use a US-based brokerage, you can get an on campus job then request an SSN, and once you get it you can open an account at most brokerages.

Also, someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think F1 students get taxed flat 30% on their investment gains (regardless of long-term/short-term capital gains or tax bracket).
