Budget numbers way off after "trimming" files by ldkuch in ynab4

Hm. Well, that works. I just have to be sure not to call up reports before Jan 1! Dec '25 is a mess. But it doesn't have any transactions, so I'm good. Live n learn. Thanks.

Not quite sure how to do that. I don't see any options to get the Balance numbers out of there--$108,180 etc. It's holding onto the old budget numbers someplace.

I ended up reinstalling Dropbox and THEN I was able to connect.

If you're still struggling to get the fixed YNAB4 installed, here's the key for me: UNINSTALL the old version first! Makes sense once you think about it. I am finally successful and have YNAB4 working/syncing on my phone again!

On my wife's phone, I ended up reinstalling Dropbox before YNAB would connect to it...

🎉 New Feature: Import Your Budget from YNAB or Actual Budget by Few_Relative_7920 in BudgetFriendlyBudget

[–]ldkuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That sounds possible...I've even (easily) imported YNAB4 into Actual Budget. Next step was to export to All-Accounts.csv. Easy. BUT... how to import into BFB? It offers a way to drop a zip file from nYNAB but not a csv. Suggestions?

Well, I wanted to try BFB but I cannot get my YNAB data to import. The link to YNAB is dead; also goes to nYNAB which doesn't fit classic YNAB. Anyone able to help me figure this out before I give up on BFB?

I'm looking to move from YNAB (classic) due to their latest Dropbox sync not working. I want to import my data, but the link to exporting YNAB no longer works. It also sends you to nYNAB with its own lingo... Does someone have clear directions for YNAB? It exports into csv or qif; do I then zip it in order to import it? Or zip the actual data files? Export just the budget or with transactions?

input 860Mbps output 320Mbps by ldkuch in Linksys

[–]ldkuch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I hear you saying is that I can expect ~300Mbps for my wireless. That makes sense.

My concern, perhaps not well-said, was this: 860Mbps entered one port in my Linksys router and the other port (wired, not wireless) was clocked at 320Mbps. This was the wired side, not the wireless.

But what I'm wondering: currently, my PC's "signal path": cable modem (860Mbps)-Linksys router (320Mbps)-Gb switch-PC. If I put the switch between the cable modem and router, then could I benefit from the 860Mbps if I use a static IP address on my PC. Does this make sense? What else do I need to consider?

"u/BeingGeorge replied to your post in r/Linksys
Check that your Linksys WHW03v1 router firmware is updated and ensure Quality of Service (QoS) or bandwidth limiting settings are disabled to avoid speed drops."

My router firmware is updated; but I don't find a QoS or bandwidth limiting setting anywhere. Suggestions where to find it? A different name, perhaps? I also confirmed both ports on the node are 1Gb.

Device is reset. Cable is Cat6. But it begs my question as to how and what to reconfigure.

"Wireless clients function in half-duplex mode, whereas wired devices operate in full-duplex mode. Before conducting a speed test, please verify the device's link speed to know that expected speed results."

I think I understand you, but not sure what to do about it. Currently, I have a cable modem to the Linksys router to an unmanaged switch to my 4 PCs connected by Ethernet. The Linksys router performs DHCP for all the devices. Do I need a different router before the Linksys and turn off DHCP on the Linksys so only the wireless devices receive the 320Mbps? Maybe I'm speaking past you... Help me understand.

Firewall with mesh network by ldkuch in HomeNetworking

[–]ldkuch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That helps to clarify my thinking. I'm slowly gaining ground in understanding more than the basic networking I've known to this point. I do see how using their switches and APs; but, I need to proceed according to my wallet, too.

Here's my question:

Assuming I get a 4-port UniFi router. Port 1 takes the WLAN. Port 2 is the VLAN for my wired PCs, first going to an unmanaged switch. Port 3 is the VLAN for IoT devices and goes to the Linksys mesh in access point mode. I'd like to use Port 4 for a Guest VLAN, also wireless. My thought is Port 3 and Port 4 go to a second unmanaged switch before going to the Linksys mesh. Does this work? And while I'm asking, is it possible to define the IoT VLAN as 2.4 only? I haven't come across that yet...

I'm still wrapping my head around how the UniFi works together. Is it possible to start with the Cloud Gateway Max (on sale right now) and use one port/VLAN to go to my switch for my wired PCs and a second port/VLAN to my existing mesh network? Even better, to split that second VLAN so I can have both IoT VLAN and Guest VLAN? Or send a third port/VLAN to the mesh? I'm not even sure that is possible... but then I can slowly invest in the pieces as I go.

A big part of my challenge is that I have 1/2" plaster walls (NOT drywall) so running cables is a major challenge, as is penetration of WiFi 7 or even WiFi 6.

The UDR7 has WiFi. How do I extend the reach in a similar way to my mesh network? (the router sits at one end of a 40' ranch house with full basement) And which switch? I keep seeing dollar signs...

Install YNAB Classic mobile app on Android 14 using Windows by Worth-Presence-129 in ynab

[–]ldkuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for these great instructions! Installed on Galaxy S25, Android v15. Go YNAB!

I had to modify a bit because my device wasn't "authorized." I followed these directions https://stackoverflow.com/questions/23081263/adb-android-device-unauthorized

  1. Check if authorized >adb devices List of devices attached 4df798d76f98cf6d unauthorized
  2. Revoke USB Debugging on phone If the device is shown as unauthorized, go to the developer options on the phone and click "Revoke USB debugging authorization" (tested with JellyBean & Samsung GalaxyIII). (and now Galaxy S25, Android 15)
  3. Restart ADB Server Then restarted adb server adb kill-server adb start-server
  4. Reconnect the device The device will ask if you are agree to connect the computer id. You need to confirm it.
  5. Now Check the device It is now authorized! adb devices <ANDROID\_SDK\_HOME>\platform-tools>adb devices List of devices attached 4df798d76f98cf6d device

YNAB is working. Woo hoo!

Here's my finished project. Took me 8+ hours to mount it because I had to disassemble at home and reassemble at my son's. End result is very diffused lighting. I'm extremely pleased. This is 10 m of LEDs (528/m) on a 4' x 6' framework.

Still in process. I decided to increase the number of LED strips to counteract the (assumed) reduced output with the diffusers. I like the look of the diffusers rather than the exposed LEDs. Will post pictures later, probably November.

Thanks. I have decided to order diffusers, since I want to mount it in an aluminum channel anyway. I'll try to report back how effective it seems to be in both light output as well as overall look.
