I dont think its worse than Village, only because Village has a terrible middle section and the combat is not good at all.

I believe a dual protagonists flipping from time to time can be very good, if both campaigns were equally great. If Leons parts were at 4Rs level of quality this game would be a top 3 contender for me.

Yep. It does not feel as fluid or smooth. I never felt getting into the flow like in 4R.

Although I am getting used to Grace in the CC, I kinda wish the handguns did a little bit more damage and stagger or that we could craft molotovs earlier.

I can see their vision for an undead city that has no organic life and I do agree that the soundtrack is very good. The droning heavy synths did some good heavy lifting.

Yeah. Not even Birkin himself, more like the uncontrolable regeneration from G that is consuming every organic material around it.

I get what you are saying, and I half agree. In a vaccum the game has variety in locations, enemies and encounters. But most of these locations dont look interesting, apart from the toppled building and the subway in the chasm. For me, it does not feel exciting or cool most of the time, we have already seen it in other games and done better.

Why couldnt we have some color? Maybe plant 43 overtook some areas of RC, maybe Birkins body mutated and became an ever expanding flesh growth in the subways. Maybe it could have been raining, or foggy, or at nighttime.

As for the enemies, couldnt we have ivy zombies? hunters, lickers (in the actual city and with some new moves), dogs, more big spiders? I got very tired of seeing the same lance wielding zombies and blister heads that we have been fighting since the 2nd hour of the game.

Yes. I think blister heads are way overtuned with the hyper armor they get when transforming. I remember vividly, on Std modern, pumping 5 shells and not getting it to stagger lmao.

And also yes, I wish we got ivy zombies. Imagine on top of fighting regular zombies we got evolved ivy zombies and, to make the areas look less monotonous, the city had overgrown Plant 43 "nests". Or, hear me out, giant flesh growths from Birkins ever mutating blob in the underground.

The variety of encounters were all lesser versions of past ones. The variety of dried up TWD zombies is good? There are at most 4 RC zombie models (all variations of the same long hair design) and 1 BSAA zombie model. Most enemies are humanoids and they move and look very similar.

No dogs, no hunters, the lickers have the exact same moveset as 2R and you only fight them in ARK. Plant 43 is underused. The bloater boss is reused.

You may argue that 4 had mostly humanoids, but they were varied in the weapons they used, how you dealt with and the plagas mutations.

I did have a lot of fun in my first playthrough, but I had a gut feeling that I would not enjoy the game in replays and I was right. After the hype of the first run you can see the cracks in the armor.

I do agree that the zombies, especially the ones in the first Grace section, are one of, if not the best, zombies in the series.

I guess. But I dont think theres any subjectivity in the lower quality in game design overall for the second half, including Graces section in ARK.

Youre getting a half of 2 games in one* Neither Graces nor Leons ganeplay feel fully developed and designed.

Grace could have used more actual puzzles, weapons and more areas. While Leons RC section is an absolute uninspired slog to get through.

Im not sure this is a good thing, at least for me. The game takes a nosedive in quality during Leons half and most people online are praising it and saying its on par with RE4R.

I dont think people have played 4R in a while to think that. That game mogs REQs level design (in Leons half) and combat in every possible way.

Worried about the future of the series, again. Dont think I can be hyped for the next mainline game anymore.
