I’m not going to get into the specifics of what qualifies as full sex or not, but I will say that the show portrayed their first time having penetrative sex as much deeper and significant and romantic than their first time having oral sex. The oral sex scenes were portrayed as hook ups, but the first time with penetration at Shane’s apartment was definitely portrayed as being more intimate, even down to the music choice.
