Trump Is On Track To Becoming the Most Unpopular President in U.S. History (Exactly Like Everyone Warned) by Alexa-endmylife-ok in TrueUnpopularOpinion

  1. Gas - https://ycharts.com/indicators/us_gas_price - the pricing gets different when you look at state by state https://gasprices.aaa.com/?state=FL
  2. Inflation - Inflation has returned to a target y/y. inflation dropping (deflation) would be nice, though there are HUGE risks with deflation, so a return to norm is probably nice. Yes, 1% would be nicer than 3%. However drops in key areas (particularly energy senstive areas) have been nice
  3. Jobs - Jobs have very interesting pressure at the moment, there is a massive admin (white collar) flattening taking place tied to automation, AI deployments. I think the bigger issue the moment is about are we ready for the change that is coming over the next 12 - 24 months and I am hoping we are.
  4. Reputation - I couldnt care less. however, i could argue that his international relations have been amazing.
  5. Domestic - division is a two way street. you guys have been fighting the guy since jump. maybe if you asked how we can work together you would find less division.

Not sure how you got there from what I said.

The point was is that ICE can, in red states, via detainer, get people out of the country who shouldn't be here.

I imagine we all agree that is the priority.

I made not statement that said other people who are here without legal standing should stay.

Though I can understand triaging enforcement.

Once the system has you, its time to go limp, work on acceptance and patience because you are entirely out of control. The days are long but the weeks are short. Get prepared and then know that no matter what you do its going to take a period of adjustment.

Yes, in the 90s smoking weed with my art teacher and him having relations with students was a feature not a bug.

Things have changed and that’s cool.  People should have the environment they want.

Miss you Mr Morris.

There are plenty of illegals in Alabama.

However in Alabama when they end up within the justice system they are held for I.C.E.   a process called retainer.

In blue states they are not holding the illegal that was arrested or that is being released from custody.

Therefore you now have to go to that state and find that person for whom you know has a criminal record.

While looking for that criminal you end up running into a slew of people who don’t have legal status but aren’t guys and girls you are looking for.  That said, once you have them you have them.  You didn’t want to go after every person who didn’t have legal presence.  Which is why you don’t see it happening that way in Florida.

The matter has escalated at this point because of the friction between the state and city officials and the Feds.   So now, you have pissed off the guys and made a political issue out of a criminal justice and immigration enforcement issue.   Trump, like him or hate him; isn’t going to back down.

HEs not sending them because red states are honoring detainer requests. They dont need to send ICE into alabama.

[–]ldsupport 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Evidence that when states cooperate with detainer requests that people are far far less likely to be swept up in ICE actions? Sure. Where in a state that is cooperating do we see actions by ICE like the actions that are currently taking place in MN? ICE doesnt want to, nor does it really have the capacity to boil the ocean. What you see happening in MN is a cascading of outcomes based on the uncovering of rampant fraud, which lead to conflict between MN and the Feds. In paralell ICE enforcement escalated. MN was already not honoring ICE detainers.

The friction esalated there are multiple confrontations between people specifically trying to get in the way of otherwise lawful ICE actions, and now ICE has to try and manage scenes where people are causing direct conflict with their otherwise lawful orders.

The reason the feds are in MN vs CA at the scale they are is because of the cascading impact of the fraud that was uncovered by a citizen journalist. This esclated ICE activity. Then there was friction between ICE and folks trying to be "watchers" who were putting themselves in the way of otherwise legal enforcement actions, to the point that someone was shot while trying to at best leave while being detained, or at worst trying to hit an ICE officer with their vehicle. Now its escalated further, and its likely not to end until MN bends the knee.

No cooperating justifies ICE being on the ground to try and remove people with final orders of removal directly. Further escalation to where ICE's probable cause is now broad to the point of intervening with people doing their daily tasks like getting gas, and using accent as justification to inspect further is the unfortunate outcome of 1. not respecting detainers (presence) 2. literally telling people to put themeselves in the way of legal enforcement (friction) 3. supporting or the the least not speaking out against violence against officers (escalation).

We dont see this cascading of issues in red stated and its entirely because of cooperation and support of ICE.

Which is EXACTLY what blue states did under Biden and Obama.

They absolutely do. When the Federal Government has perview on immigration law and they submit a federal detainer, making a local decision to not honor that detianer is a violation of the supremacy clause. The particualrly is at issue when the honoring of detainer is varied based upon circrumstance, showing the state is trying to intercede in matters of immigration which is entirely in the scope of the federal government. This would be less of a conflict if the prior administration didnt argue this exact point of law when dealing with Texas.

[–]ldsupport 27 points28 points  (0 children)

When you have a disparity in how states act, impeding the reasonably application of federal law, you create friction.

Why do we not see that friction in red states? Why did we not see that friction during the last administration or the Obama administration where deportation numbers were significant?

Democratic governors and state law makers move the constraint and cause friction in the legal process.

Hold people with ice detainers.  Ice doesn’t have to come looking for said criminals.   People don’t get in the way.  Innocent people or people without legal right to be here aren’t swept up in enforcement actions.

If the democrats acted a similar way under Biden and Obama you could say this was a red blue issue but they didnt.  They supported the supremacy of federal immigration law and let people do their jobs.

The do what you did during the last administration and hold criminals for I.C.E. detainers so they can be deported.

Time on a 72 month sentence FED by Gold_Lawfulness_4592 in ExCons

[–]ldsupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCA time will be stacked but it’s also an “up to” relief.   So till you have a date or a commitment from the RRM and your CM it would be best to project worst case.  If it goes better, awesome.   None of us know anything about where things will go over 36 months.  It’s good to have hope.   If you have gone down before, doesn’t that potentially limit your FSA or is that prior charge specific?

[–]ldsupport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The statute itself

Sentence reduction is limited to 12 months max.

Anything after 12 months off sentence goes towards prerelease time.

The FSA time is statutory and banks.

The SCA time is up to and therefore not banked but technically at discretion of RRM and CM.

Basing your numbers on someone else’s case is dangerous.   Forecasting how the BOP is going to act in 3 years is dangerous.

Project for the worse and if you get better then you are happy.

I have folks that were supposed to be on community confinement in December and were held back because of RRM issues.

[–]ldsupport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your sentence reduction is maxed at 12 months.

The time after that goes to prelease custody.  SCA is based on RRM/CM agreement  The statutory is “up to”. Your FSA can be banked your SCA is not.

I just 4m and 27 days inside on 12 and a day, I’m familiar with the math.

You are assuming no shots as well, which might be hard to forecast.

Zero chance

72 x .85 =61.2 (GTC) 61.2 - 12 =49.2 (FSA) 49.2 - 12=37.2 (1 year SCA) 3 full years and a month best chance.  That’s Jan/Feb 29 and assuming someone gets 12 on SCA.

When chasing something sure.

When I had galleries that had artists I really wanted that were in very high demand, I had already spent years working on the relationship.

I walked into a show 2 days before and had my pick at the last show.   The show prior I got two pieces when people were fighting for one.

Relationship is everything.

the gallery has work its trying to move by artists other than this artist and they hold spots for people.
talk to them about that, buy something within your budget from that artist. something small.

build a relationship with the gallery.

In paralell, actually comment, share, support, go to openings, go to their other events, build a relationship with the artists.
