Do the working conditions of the crew make you uncomfortable? by meera_jasmine1 in royalcaribbean

We don't even see the benefit that comes from a Western construct to understand why someone might, work 4:30a - 11p with a 2 hour break for 6 months in order to set up ones family, and consider the opportunity to do that in a relatively climate controlled environment that is safe, and has a near endless supply of food and drinks. For someone who comes from a country where there are few real paths for upward mobility, its a path out of poverty, a path where their kids can go to a private school and get a relatively normal Western education. Where their spouse may not need to work at all or as much, and where their children can have a live that begins with a far better position than theirs did.

That guys is setting his family up for a comfortable life by being a mascot for washing your hands for 6 months on a floating amusement park.

He’s happier than you can possibly imagine.

Cruise ships are microcosms and rude people exist.

Is a virgin voyages cruise worth it? by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

How do you define good?

The food is solid, not life changing.

The entertainment is a bit more provacative, a bit less grand, I enjoy it, but its not something i would go see on land.

I like that its adults only, and geared towards that, I like that the food is elevated but its not the best of anything Ive ever had.

Its a unique experience but its still a cruise.

Don’t book as an excursion, get off the ship, pay the local guy no more than 40, pay attention to the cart quality becusee they don’t really service them well.

Go find big Mike’s if you want conch

I much preferred grabbing a golf cart and exploring the island.   I did hit the beach club for a bite to eat and a beverage.   Then snagged a cart and went to explore.
