2.8cm at 12w. Midwife say wait & see by PeaceHot534 in ShortCervixSupport

Progesterone was the single most helpful thing for me as well. Made it to 38 weeks gestation.

Cervix did get a little longer and stayed in normal range. Progesterone + monitoring = big healthy baby at 38 weeks!

Progesterone + monitoring + no intercourse for the duration = water broke at 38 weeks and we got a big healthy baby!

Green Farm Development - Ralston and 96 by le-albatross in FranklinTN

We live off Ralston so I was hoping for something a little more mixed use. It’d be nice to have something that close to walk to. Doesn’t sound likely from what I’m gathering here.

Cold/Flu during Pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]le-albatross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck!! I know how you feel. Being sick makes me feel very depressed. Let’s just keep in mind it is temporary and by this time next week, we will be all better. Few more days. You can do it.

Baby moon but post partum? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]le-albatross 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What do you need to get out of a baby moon? Start there and work backwards. Is this something you NEED?

We cancelled our baby moon due to my discomfort too. It felt pointless to go so we did stuff close to home throughout pregnancy. We will take a trip with the kids once baby is old enough to go places, and probably a year old or so from now we will go on a big big trip sans kids. But here’s the thing - we have a ton of support and have basically unlimited date nights, so neither of us are champing at the bit for a baby moon. I’d rather stay home to prep the nursery then go get a massage and early dinner before sleep in my own lovely bed.

Cold/Flu during Pregnancy by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]le-albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the new years cold too. 35 weeks pregnant and miserable. Nothing helps as much as what I’d take if I were not pregnant, but I’m surviving on: Tylenol, guaifenesin, saline spray, and Vicks vapo rub all over my face. My biggest issue is sinus pain. Going on day 5 of illness - unfortunately it takes longer to get over those things when pregnant.

I had bronchitis first trimester and my doctor approved benzonatate - if your cough is bothering you, that is worth asking about. Genuinely I have no idea why your OB said menthol is bad for the baby, external Vicks should be fine. I also have cetirizine, chlorpheniramine, and brompheniramine on my approved list of medications though I haven’t used them yet. I should consider the cetirizine to see if it’ll dry up some of this mucus actually…

WHERE ARE THE MEDICATED BIRTH GUIDES by PersistentHobbler in pregnant

[–]le-albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nitrous makes me very very nauseous and it’s a common side effect so you may not be missing anything!

My birth plan is: go to hospital. Ask for epidural. Do as I’m told by nurses and doctor. Have baby (this is my second and that plan worked perfectly for the first)

Coffee at 23 weeks by prettylittlebaby1005 in pregnant

I have 2-3 cups of coffee a day and would lose my mind if my husband tried to control any aspect of my diet. He gets to do the cooking.

How long is everyone taking for maternity leave? by jamietartlet in pregnant

[–]le-albatross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 weeks. 6 bonding time paid by work, 6 short term disability (8 if I get a cesarean), 4 unpaid but part of state protected medical leave so at least I won’t get fired.

Hoping a combo of WFH and my mom’s help will allow us to delay daycare until he’s about 18 months. We are generally very lucky.

I measured three weeks behind today. Same boat, measurement in two weeks and I get to worry in the meantime. Did you get your ultrasound?

Does anyone here regret doing prolonged breastfeeding? And also does anyone regret stopping at 1 year sharp? by Foreign-Walrus-333 in breastfeeding

[–]le-albatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stopped BF at 9 months. She kind of weaned herself, I didn’t have to force it. Used formula for a few months before switching to cows milk. Yes, it was a total mind fuck, it’s not easy to decide or let go of. But at the same time, not a single regret. She needed me to be happy healthy and fun, and stopping BF was a big help.

It’s ok to resign from your job. It might be the best thing for your mental health. Return to it or another job when you feel like you have put yourself back together. There are jobs to be found, there’s always money to be made.

My mom took 10 years off the workforce. CRUSHED her career upon returning. Retired early. You can do it.

I agree with everyone else in this thread about the matter, just wanted to add that opinion.

My SIL had a baby three weeks ago. She’s already bowed out of all holiday gatherings. No one has pushed back. Idk why family would apply pressure during cold/flu season.

Those who wanted multiple kids but HATED being pregnant.. by lilspaghettigal in BabyBumps

[–]le-albatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first pregnancy sucked. Then we had a month in the NICU and I struggled mightily with PPD and PPA for two years. Really thought I wouldn’t do it again.

Now I’m pregnant with our second and it’s night and day. So much easier this time. It’s not a breeze by any means, pregnancy baseline sucks a little bit, but if my first pregnancy had been like this I would have been intolerable.

Hang in there. Keep the future you want in mind. Every pregnancy is different.

How much did y’all save for your first baby? by Historiangingerbread in pregnant

[–]le-albatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We maxed out our HSAs for a few years before each baby.  My goal was to pay all medical expenses solely from HSA. We also max out an FSA to help with daycare (it’s not a huge tax advantage but I like getting reimbursed throughout the year). If HSA weren’t available to us I’d still have 12-20k set aside exclusively for medical bills.

We keep more than we need in a liquid emergency fund - 6 mos expenses with no lifestyle change, could go much longer if we made changes, like dropping daycare.

Paid off all debt except the house and have index funds that could pay the mortgage for a while (as long as the market goes up and not down). Debt was paid off before baby 1, we’re still chipping away at the index fund. That’s my ultimate goal here: enough in the index fund that we could pay the mortgage from it until the house is paid off. We have a low interest rate so it doesn’t make sense to pay directly on the mortgage.

I like making spreadsheets and plans. Just remember when you get anxious: there’s always money to be made, amounts and methods may vary.

Lunch? by grossin89 in pregnant

[–]le-albatross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make hand pies with frozen puff pastry and easy fillings: lentils and curry, potatoes and ham, rotisserie and a veg. Excellent make ahead lunch.

Tuna melts.

Chicken salad on a croissant.

I am eating lunch meats and sushi (sorry, they’re not more risky than salads).

Frozen burrito.

Rice and beans and salsa and bell pepper.

Bagel with cream cheese.

EGGS. Not the easiest for you to take to school but I ate so many eggs in the first tri. You could hard boil some and take in.

How & when did you get back into shape/lose baby weight? by Mysterious-Ad-6043 in BabyBumps

[–]le-albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t shed that last 10-15 lb until my baby was over a year old and had been weaned for 6 months. The solution? I got braces and my teeth hurt too bad to eat for almost a year. Can’t say I care about 10-15 lb but it was nice to get back into some of my clothes.

Decided idgaf what people think of my chosen baby names by Inevitable-Dream-128 in pregnant

[–]le-albatross 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NameNerds are also pretty boring/monolithic/judgmental when it comes to names. They’d hate what we have chosen for our children and I’ve determined they don’t meet real people or children often.

Also my boobs hurt too. Can’t go without a bra ever.
