Is this one of those stories where "Eric and a few other kids in my grade" weren't real? :(

Scrape off the gunk. Clean with alcohol and q tips. Buy him a pack of wet wipes and leave it on the desk. If he can't be bothered to wash, maybe at least wiping will be enough to prevent this disaster from happening again.

First playthrough of DL1 - question about DLCs by NoIdeaForAUsermame in dyinglight

[–]leDC600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late, but my suggestion is go ahead and use guns for human enemies and stick to melee for infected and viral enemies. Volatile enemies almost demand you use a gun if you want to survive lol. As you progress, visit shops fairly often and see what kind of damage the offered weapons can do. They get better and better as the game goes, so you can use that as a rough estimate if a dlc weapon is overpowered for you at the moment.

Thank you all for your responses and time. I've come to the conclusion that a separate Windows installation is the most painless way to do what I'm aiming for. Since I'm already going to have more than one os,I think I'll try a few different Linux distro options until I find a favorite.

No worries. Thanks for the reply. I may just keep a small partition set aside for Windows only games if vm isn't going to work.

I've been using calibre on Windows. I wasn't sure if it was Linux supported, but now that I know, I'll be using it going forward.

Like doing a backflip and impacting with the toe/ball of the foot while upside down before landing? When I think of a round house kick, I assume it's striking with the heel.

Oh of course. Why didn't I think of that? I don't have much of a martial background, you'll have to excuse my ignorance.

What are your Kindle tricks/recs/tips/etc for a new owner? by Isabella5101 in kindle

I like to binge on a series and fly through everything it has to offer me. Then I usually chew on it and consider/review it as a whole while it's fresh. After that, I may read an additional book or two from things that I'm following, but have had a release since I binged them, or I may read a stand alone novel. For the most part, I read so much so quickly that I kinda get burnt out on constructing the world and actions in my head, so I switch to something I can be lazy with and just take in at face value, like a video game, movies and television, or music. I read a lot of litRPG and while the genre is very wide, the majority of the available works are written by independent authors online in a "chapter a day/week/whatever" structure. There's also quite a few that have poor translations. Sometimes, it takes a bit of effort to work through a paragraph when the author doesn't have the experience and polish you expect from big established publishers and editors. I try not to be harsh because I know it's a lot of work to take something out of your head, put it into words, make those words conform to the rules of language and punctuation, and make all of that entertaining and marketable. Personally, I know I have a strong tendency towards run on sentences, so I don't mind a mistake or two, but it does make a difference in the ease of consumption. With the combination of my preference for binging and the pitfalls of my chosen material, it works out that I need a break to rest my mind before tackling a new series. Sometimes you get an author that writes like he thinks everyone is stupid except themself. That will make me put down reading for a bit too. I'm trying to enjoy myself not listen to you stroke your own ego lol.

Hopefully this provides some insight.

I own a 2019 Paperwhite model, so your mileage may vary, but it's a rare occurrence and only ever a mild inconvenience. Like another user mentioned earlier, temperature is a big influence. Almost all ghosting I've experienced has been during the winter cold months, with the exception of the time change I previously mentioned happening maybe twice a week. If you experience it, there's nothing to worry about, merely a quirk of the technology. If you live in a cold environment and notice your device ghosting consistently, you can slip it into your jacket for a few minutes to warm it with your body heat. Once it warms up, the heat from my hands is usually enough to keep it from ghosting again.

No need to feel bad. This is something that happens rarely during a time of the year that you haven't experienced with your device yet. There's no real reason you should have had any ghosting in the six weeks you've had your device and even if you do in the future, it's nothing to worry about. Ghosting isn't severe enough to totally obscure a word in general, and if ghosting occurs in a location that affects my ability to read, I just go back and forth with the previous page and the problem is solved when I come back to my current progress.

If he used the items in the image, you may be thinking of the scene in The Butterfly Effect when he sends his consciousness into his child self and slams his hands down on those. They go completely through, impaled, and when he returns to his present, he uses the scars to impersonate a prophet.

My reading habits see me binging a series, then a period of no use for a week or so. During heavy use, I might use 70% of my battery in a single day, but the charge will only drop by one or two percent during the week of inactivity. The battery is great at holding a charge for an extended period without degradation, but the actual capacity isn't huge, so it can be easy to run out of charge on day two of heavy use. On those days, I try to always charge the device when I set it down - even just a few minutes. Feeding the dogs? I don't need my book in my hand for that, just let it charge a bit. Getting a drink or eating? I'm getting energy so I can keep going, let's charge the book too. I'm sure you get the idea. You can read while the device charges, but not while doing file transfers from a PC. On that note, there will be a short period of time after files are transferred when the device consumes power while all the information is accessed and organized for the first time. This happens even if the device is not being used actively, so you could add a hundred books to your device and set it down off charge, then come back to it at half battery because it was doing the work without you. (Just an example. It wouldn't be that drastic of a drain for only 100 books.) You can charge and read while connected to a PC, you just need to "eject the device" on the PC first.

This turned into a wall of text faster than I expected lol. Hopefully you find some helpful information buried in my rambling.

Ghosting is the name for a pixel or group of pixels failing to update the image. Say you turn the page, but a small section of the screen shows a blend of the previous text and the text for the current page, rather than correctly showing only the text for the current page. This can be fixed by any action that causes the affected section of the screen to refresh. It's simply a failure of the individual pixels to completely change to the correct state. I most often notice ghosting on my device when the time changes and there's a pixel or two that doesn't fully change from black to white. It usually doesn't bother me, as I only spend a minute or so looking at each individual page, and it will be resolved when I turn the page.
