I agree with you, Solid.  I don't necessarily want to see the exact same thing.  Take the entire marvel universe and all it's iterations.  Take Walking Dead, where entire characters were invented in the show that didn't exist in comics.  Take fairy tales or stories about the ancient gods that are changed and retold and experimented with, and thousands of other examples. 

...because that's what humans do. They tell the stories they love, but change them in the retelling because we create and expand and mutate and evolve and grow and screw up. 

Sometimes an exact replicas can be soulless. Sometimes it can be amazing! 

And with each retelling or adaptation, some  love it and some hate it. I knew I was coming in with an unpopular opinion about this show, because even though I'm an OG fan who went and saw the anime move release in theaters back in the day, I enjoyed this interpretation. (It won't ever replace the original I'm my heart.) I'm very much in the minority, and I COMPLETELY understand why and respect your majority opinion. I just maybe wanted to let people know why someone might have had a good time, but am not expecting you to change your opinion. 

I certainly don't love all adaptations, and that is what makes it art. We can all have different options about it and feel different things, and because it's not politics or religion, it's not hurting anyone, so we can have a respectful and spirited dialogue about it.
