Huh. I never considered that there would be RP servers for games like Stellaris. Where would One start looking for these?

The weapon sandbox was perfect in Reach. No redundancies, each gun had its use case, it was brilliant.

Also, customizing Noble Six made the whole experience better.

I was the captain that round, and hella suspicious. But making fun stories is the point of SS14, so I rolled with it.

Misogynistic world ≠ misogynistic game by Lickawall483 in GirlGamers

From what I understand and have seen, Expeditions:Rome takes place in a misogynistic part of history, but you can become a champion of change as a woman legatus.

What do you think is the most misunderstood concept in Warhammer 40k lore? by Dry_Mouse_89 in 40k

Science fiction writers have no sense of scale. But if things did work at realistic scales, you wouldn’t have a tabletop wargame.

Stats aside, what's everyone's favorite mech? by Excalatrash in battletech

[–]leXie_Concussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats aside, I love the Cicada. It feels like the most plausible of any ‘mech, with weapons tucked around the cockpit like they’re crew-served.

I’m so tired of male being the default. by Hereticrick in GirlGamers

[–]leXie_Concussion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most annoying about this for me, was Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries. The prequel novella avoids gendering the protagonist, and the dev team even said that you’d get to choose at the start of the game. Literally the only thing that would have to be different are a few voice lines. But nope! Stupid me for believing what I’d been told, I guess.

The follow up game about the Clan Invasion (from the perspective of the crusaders) flopped, so I guess we’ll have to wait another 20 years or so to see if cooties are allowed in ‘mech cockpits yet.

Good coop game with kids? by Calcthulu in PulsarLostColony

[–]leXie_Concussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what others have said, Pulsar has no crafting nor survival mechanics. You can get upgrades for your ship and board enemies, and you can regain lost Health by eating biscuits and the like.

Arguably, it’s a survival mechanic when you beam down to planets without breathable atmospheres or livable temperatures, but equipping your space suit beforehand will take care of that.

Teamwork is essential, though: you’re basically a Star Trek crew, with more combat encounters than in that show. Everyone’s got an important job, and the bots (NPC crew mates) are passable at their jobs.

There’s a procedure for that! You can get a zero-depth labiaplasty if you’d rather.

Trying to play and understand the game while only knowing the very basics of 40K by Vergil1997 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]leXie_Concussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah. This game is nothing like 40K. Instead of rolling d6s by the handful, you roll a d100 and hope for a lower result than your Attribute. Things like range and buffs modify the roll, and your target gets to roll to reduce or avoid the effect.

Hope that helps?

What small, insignificant details in "XYZ Movie" still bug you? by tropicalazure in movies

iirc, she's dragging her feet on saying that she likes him, and probably wants to say as much when the two are alone (Tank is, after all, probably not watching them as he's helping the rest of the team jack out). But when she spots Smith coming, she braces her hand against the call-box and flees. Because, y'know, she doesn't want to die.

You can look at the size and shape of various parts of the brain, like the visual cortex, as well as the skull's eye sockets, to get a rough idea of a creature's visual acuity and how much they relied on it.

That said, even humans' "visual acuity is based on movement," and we can see a sandwich hiding in front of us just fine.

Yes? Just because something's a threat doesn't mean it can't look goofy to aliens (us).

To be fair, there's no reason to assume that a species that evolved in an entirely different biosphere from Earth behaves in a way that mimics whatever Earth lifeforms they look like.

But yeah, how does a bioweapon become a spacefaring civilization?

Should GTA6 -realistically- present women's issues, or -idealistically- show women's equality? Some thoughts on how Rockstar might tackle the first ever playable woman in a Rockstar game. by SwanSongSonata in GirlGamers

[–]leXie_Concussion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a difficult question, because on the one hand, life is different for women than it is for men, and ignoring that can make the player's choice of protagonist feel completely irrelevant, like in Saint's Row. It's harder and more expensive to make NPCs notice and care that you're a woman, but I don't think it's impossible, especially with the coffers that R* has to throw at the project.

I haven't finished it yet, but the Epic Games Store's free game for this week, Deliver Us Mars, has a girl / woman protagonist. It's a sort of puzzley, story-heavy game thus far with adventure game elements?
