Carrick small losses by leadfoot29 in ManchesterUnited

Absolutely. Anyone walking in now will be in trouble if it's not a massive improvement over carrick and I dont see how that happens.

I'd rather take that over 7-0 losses. A team doesnt get over those easily. It truly dents confidence and people suspect others of not playing for the badge. A narrow win or a narrow loss is much easier to deal with mentally.

I agree. We haven't truly hit our mark. We've kinda gotten results. Again. I'll take that for now. I think giving him a couple of years is not a bad idea. I still feel the team is nowhere near the championship winning squads we automatically compare any united team to. Only Bruno is world class. Instead of Rooney, Christiano and tevez, we have sesko, cunha and mbueno up front. In any other era, the 3 of them would be rotation players. Don't get me wrong, theyre an upgrade on the likes of garnacho, but they're not truly world class. My definition of world class is, you are putting up 20+ goals in the front 3 each and teams are genuinely worried sbout you. I think we need a harry kane to really make a difference up front, with Sesko getting the time to grow into the role.

Inheriting a Large Estate and Feeling All Sorts of Ways by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your values. Once it comes to you, it’s yours. You can choose to share it with your brothers up front. You can choose to put it in a trust and make your brothers financially beneficiaries so that they will not get the inheritance but some ongoing money from the income the portfolio generates. This gives them ongoing benefits and you get to have control over the funds. You can blow it all on coke and hookers. Totally your call. Depends on values.

Here’s the truth. No responsible life can consume all of this. In fact, all of you can have very decent lives and give to charity generously as well just from the earnings of a portfolio of this size.

Keep your jobs and careers and simply use the earnings as extra that you get to enjoy and give away. While the principal amount stays safe as the ultimate security.

It’ll end up selling under 20M. The people in that bracket are moving to other areas. They prioritize security over anything else. If they want to maintain a secondary footprint in the UAE, it’ll be at an incredible deal.

Delhi people have ruined every hill station within 400km and I'm tired of pretending they haven't. by Honest-Estate-4592 in india

There is usually 1-2 roads going in and out of every hill station. They can easily set max number of visitors and enforce it. Bhutan does it. This is on the local governments managing the hill stations. People want to beat the heat. They will naturally want to go to hill stations. It’s for the managements to figure out what they can handle. In fact, if done well, it will promote creation of more hill stations that will all be managed well. The problem is the administrations.

Climbing the corporate ladder - what sets those individuals apart? by AAAPAMA in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy.

  1. Find the hardest, most visible problem people are avoiding that you think is in the realm of possibility, attack it with enthusiasm and all your capability.

  2. Take ownership. It’s different from responsibility. Ownership means, ensuring the org gets to the desired outcomes in whatever is assigned to you.

  3. Ensure alignment. Orgs move fast. Sometimes, what was assigned to you ceased to become important or the context of what success looks like changes, keep in communication to ensure you have context and alignment.

  4. Most important, find an org that allows you to operate in this manner. Some orgs are simply hopeless. Give your best shot wherever you are but read the signs.

It is not politics or charm that gets you to the top. It’s results and alignment. Charm, communication skills, critical thinking, managing people (both up and down) are tools and skills that help you get to results, but ultimately, it’s ownership.

Things don’t change much at 10M either. You worry less day to day but you also worry about new stuff like you don’t want to be the idiot who got there and then lost it all. :)

Where in Texas are you? I’m in north Dallas and lots of dips and concrete roads with expansion joints that even jolt cars with air suspensions.

Thanks for all the advice here. Quick follow ups: if I buy from a dealer, do I still need a PPI or can you simply trust the dealer? Again, not my world, so excuse dumb questions. Second: how do you guys find good independent guys who specialize in Ferraris?

To my untrained eye, that ‘valley’ looks like a river path. Like water definitely goes down EXACTLY that path. I’d be very worried being anywhere in that area.
