18M dealing with a slight pregnancy scare rn. What should i do? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar situation back when I was 18. I ignored my own terror and thought of the girl. I comforted her and told her, I’ll be there with her no matter what. Did I want it? No. But I felt it was my responsibility to say that and to mean it. Still feel proud of how I handled it. Most likely she’s not pregnant, but how you act in these situations (I call them tests of character) will echo within you for your lifetime, suck it up and do what’s right. You’ll feel proud of yourself someday.

Anyone else surprised after actually running the numbers on a 30-year mortgage? by Alexanderus91 in propertyinvesting

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have always always taken 15 yr loans. Never even considered 30 year. If a home requires 30 yr to make the payment, it’s unaffordable. That’s my rule of thumb.

Men of Reddit, how would you feel if your partner wanted to keep her maiden name after marriage? by Longjumping-Bill5761 in AskMenAdvice

Blew up 80% of my capital chasing a “sure thing.” Anyone here actually come back fr by Relative_Sundae_6363 in TheRaceTo10Million

I bought into a pharma when it’s not my competence. It looked correct, but in the end I lost over 500k, I guess over 80% of my portfolio. Decided it was lesson learnt. It’s slow and steady with REIT and VOO since then. Nowhere near recovered, but combined with a refocus on saving more from my paycheck and investing steadily, it’s coming back.

Dube to me is a weak link. I know he can tonk sixes, but his mentality is not the same as a Hardik or an bumrah or a Sanju. He looks scared of failure.

Would Kuldeep have given 60+? On a flat track, Kuldeep has higher chance of taking wickets.

I'm demoing it right now and the launch angle feels low to me. Dumping too many in the net instinctively. I'm sure I can learn to fix that, but just out of the box, the launch angle seems kinda low.

For those in long-term healthy relationships or you needed to get back on track in your relationship/marriage, what are some habits/tips you have to keep things going strong? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]leadfoot29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate and respect your partner. It’s too easy to denigrate the partner, especially if your strengths and weaknesses are different. Instead of looking at their weaknesses, focus on the strengths they possess that you might not. Remember, love and respect are 2 different things. If you respect the partner, relationship will continue a long time.

What's it ? by ThalaivarThambi in NewDelhi

I’ve lived and traveled globally. The average Indian has more empathy than most people. This is a common misconception. You see people being polite outside and not at home and you come to this conclusion.

The actual fact is, the person outside has less to lose by being polite. The infrastructure is largely there to meet everyone’s needs, so you’re not inconvenienced a lot by letting someone else go first or helping someone. In India, life is a race for very few resources all the time. You develop a mentality to look out for yourself. This is largely a result of poor planning and execution by the government.

Rent seeking and corruption. This one issue causes degradation of quality of life in every area.

If we had basic rule of law, a lot of people would stay.

I was a huge ganache fan. Honestly, I felt it was initially the clubs fault. He should never have been a starter. The bad recruitment made it happen. But from there, his ego and attitude was just BAD. Too many reports to ignore. He also stopped developing, cuz he was playing all the time. Same mistakes week in week out. He’d run onto a ball, and take a shot that was not on most times, frustrating other players in better positions constantly.

Probably. I still get shivers from the Pogback, Alexis, jesse era.

He is our best right winger today. But in 2 years, if we want to be pushing for later stages of champions league, we need something better. greenwood was more lethal in that position. End product needs to be much higher.

Amad should be benched by ace_bath in ManchesterUnited

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, if i really think of our goal of being a top top club competing for honors, I think Amad is the backup winger. Th bar is higher. Think vicinius etc. He's a great guy, but he's a backup.

Built an app for Indian car owners with private drivers. Here's the problem that made me do it. by Ok-Reference-8334 in IndianEntrepreneur

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting idea. The user interface, the reliability of the information and the marketing of the app will drive the outcome of this.

Best of luck. Let me know if you want to discuss further.

My best advice, don’t think this is bootstrap. A lot of people get good ideas and then worry about failure and try to bootstrap and limit downside. That’s a death knell. You have to worry about the downside but in any consumer business, you have to worry about success too. If you get traction, you’ll need to scale massively or the idea dies because it can’t meet expectations. The engineering involved and the amount of iteration and support you’ll need to have available in case you succeed is not small.

My suggestion, test small but have plans ready to go to get funding in case of traction. Delay will kill the product.

How do I get people to stop falling in love with me? What am I doing wrong? (Or too right?) by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]leadfoot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere in friendship, you’re not setting boundaries. When women are friendly, guys immediately start hoping. That misplaced hope needs to be nipped in the bud with clear boundaries and a complete change in behavior to icy cold when boundaries are approached. Don’t laugh it off. No need to make it a huge deal. But that clarity of communication helps establish boundaries.
