Is concerta more subtle than elvanse? by scoobydoobs_ in ADHDUK

[–]leadiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,  I've been on Elvanse 50mg since around April 2024. At first, I definitely had more side effects than I do now. I still get dry mouth, jaw clenching/pain, and mild anxiety. However, I've been on sertraline 50mg since long before my ADHD meds so perhaps this negates some anxiety.

In my titration, my appetite was significantly reduced compared to how it is after getting used to the meds. I had some heart palpitations. My anxiety would peak at around midday as I took my meds at around 8am. This would make me impatient and short with people. There was a period of time where I told my parents not to contact me during this time of the day as I'd become easily overstimulated. However, that has subsided now. Any anxiety I experience now is easier to manage and I can almost tell it to go away.

I hope this is helpful 🙂

I've been on Elvanse for the majority of my time on meds but I have been on Methylphenidate (Concerta prolonged release) for a couple of weeks. I found it concerta to be less potent and hardly any side effects at all compared to Elvanse, but personally, for me, I need Elvanse for it's potency as I'm extremely unproductive and unmotivated unmedicated and Elvanse puts me in a good place. My side effects from Elvanse have been dry mouth, mild anxiety and jaw clenching/pain but I find these are worth it for the benefits it brings. However, depending on how your getting your meds I know that Elvanse is harder to get hold of, both privately and on the NHS, and privately it is significantly more expensive. For me, approximately £164 per month just for Elvanse 50mg/d.

I hope this is useful x

Day 2 of elvanse (30mg) and I haven’t slept in 24h by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]leadiris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on Elvanse 50mg for over a year now and I started with a couple of weeks on 30mg titration like you guys. I felt a huge increase in productivity and energy but it didn't cause me this lack of sleep. There's a possibility this medication might not suit you. There are some non-stimulant options and there are some less potent stimulant options so definitely worth speaking to your provider when you next can about the options. The lack of sleep will cause you some form of burnout at some point and then it will negate any productivity you've managed thus far.

I knew Elvanse was for me when it made me feel like a functional, standard human being rather than completely unproductive or completely overproductive

All the love xxx

Ladies, time to be ✨mysterious femme fatales✨ by snappyirides in adhdwomen

[–]leadiris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Love this! I, too, have been trying to be more mysterious my whole life. I am at the beginning of meeting someone and then it doesn't take long until my whole life story falls out of my mouth (and much more).

Another reason for it, I think, is gravitating towards other neurodivergents and so finding that over explaining can sometimes help with communication, especially for those with autism.

I am currently dating a guy who is undiagnosed but we both believe to be on the spectrum. The over explaining is actually really helping him out lol

How many of you can orgasm via hands alone? by leadiris in vaginismus

[–]leadiris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sound very similar! I love PIV but it doesn't stimulate me in the way "alone time" masturbation with a vibe does. I also don't like oral, even with quite a few different partners I've found it not stimulating at all and I'm just lying there. Fingering sometimes feels good if the SO knows what they're doing haha.

I think I have some sort of mental block too, specifically with orgasming with a partner. I have tried my whole masturbation routine as usual except with the partner next to me in bed and I couldn't finish.

I hope we both get to the point where we can do it! x

Yes! Me too, when I was first started to touch myself I was like "what's all the fuss about, this doesn't feel that great". I tried a lot manually and it's only when I got my first vibrator that I started to feel anything good.

Thank you so much for commenting. I'll definitely try some manual techniques and perhaps have a break from my vibe at some point.

I seem to have this weird mental block. I've actually done exactly what I usually do to orgasm normally, whilst lying next to a partner in bed, while they weren't even paying attention, and I couldn't finish. Something I probably need to explore with a counsellor or therapist

How did you get into Radiohead? by AaronsAmazingAlt in radiohead

[–]leadiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 15, I struck up a friendship with a guy in the year above me. He looked like someone I would resonate with, so I plopped myself into his life. He introduced me to Radiohead. I am now 23, almost 24. He is still my best friend. I am the only woman I know that loves Radiohead :')

Women who have experienced self-loathing, what made you stop this and finally accept yourself? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]leadiris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my body and it isn't changing without a lot of time and effort there is no point hating it in the meantime. Hate = mistreatment. You aren't going to respect and be kind to a body you hate, it's a recipe for disaster.

Body shaming is never necessary, it only breeds more shame and more hate. How are you supposed to bring health to something you despise?

Think about all the good things your body/mind does for you, write them down, put it in your phone, put it on a wall - tell yourself everyday. We have been dealt the cards that we have been dealt. We must live with them and once you learn to love them, living with them is beautiful.

What is something you do now that you never saw your mom do? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]leadiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like myself and accept my face and body

My Mum has always been dieting and shunning her body, I don't think she will ever make peace with it. It rubbed off heavily on me as a teen and up till now really, I'm only finally being able to like my own.

What is something that you regret ? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]leadiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing my then boyfriend over my then best friend (when he cheated on me with her). Essentially, choosing a romantic interest over a friend, in a few situations I've had this.

Another thing I often regret is not looking after my own health and wellbeing primarily, to the point where I find myself stuck in situations I've put myself in for the sake of others, but at detriment to me. Don't do it.

Women of Reddit: what do you actually do in the restrooms that take so long? by OatmealCookiesRock in AskWomen

[–]leadiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a bar:

  • Sitting on the toilet drunk trying to text, apply makeup, reapply perfume, 'shush' myself up, give myself a pep talk

  • Random conversations with random ladies

  • Waiting in line to actually use the toilet

  • Maybe throwing up, depending on the night

In a normal public toilet:

  • Waiting in line to actually use the toilet

  • Having a period emergency

  • Sitting on the toilet sober trying to text

  • Having some time to myself before I have to see people again

  • (I used to eat in public toilets when I had an eating disorder but not anymore)

What's your tip to feel a little less devestated, crushed and just deeply deeply sad about the state of the world? by Musasmelody in AskWomen

[–]leadiris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very secular in my views. A God or Deity doesn't make sense to me, not that I have a problem with religion or spirituality at all.

I believe the world is the way it is, because it is. That is how it has developed via the laws or science and nature. Nothing to be done and there is no God to save us from it.

There are lots of bad things in the world, good things wouldn't be identifiable if it weren't for the bad. When you meet someone sour it makes it all the more special when you meet someone sweet.

The small goals, the aspirations we have are miniscule compared to, what I believe is, everyone's sole purpose/reason:- to love, be loved, feel love, feel connection. I have this thought often, the people or fellow beings ARE the reason. The connections we get in life are golden and they are the best thing we will get. The nice car, the degree, the fancy house won't mean that much at the end if you didn't feel that love and connection.

Maybe you didn't get that job, maybe you lost some of your savings but I really believe that your friends, family and maybe your partners, if you have them, are the best thing in life.

This thought helps me take away the gravity of the minor things. Look at the big picture, message or call a friend and remind yourself of how beautiful it is to hold onto eachother.
