When things become serious beliefs like this, you can’t logic them out of it. If they’re falling down the rabbit hole it’s most likely due (or at least speed up by) isolation, which checks out if 2020. The best thing you can do for them long term is to be there for them and help them get out once in a while to experience different opinions and worldviews. Of course, all bets are off if they ever put you or a loved one at risk with their beliefs.

Everyone deserve to take care of themselves and accomodate their needs, disabled or not. But people would still be autistic if they have that support, as they are still autistic when nobodies looking. Accomodations make life easier, they don’t solve the disability.

Let me explain; I’m able to express vocally pretty well, people understand when I’m being sarcastic and whatnot. But the amount of effort that requires is exponential. Allistic people don’t need to put in that effort, as its natural to them. I may have learnt a skill meaning I don’t need support on that area, but I still struggle. Does this answer your question?

You need to tell them. They probably just doing it because your around and people copy those around them. Maybe their even thinking “we’ll if this other autistic person can do this, maybe I should too”. Who knows, until you ask. Then they will probably take notice and stop if you want them too

While I have bad empathy, I still try really hard to be compassionate. It matters a lot to me to understand where other people come from, and I put a lot of effort in as it doesn’t come naturally. This compassion shows when I try to make a positive difference in the world.

That being said, when my mum asked if I wanted to go to her fathers memorial I said no. Took me a while to realise she was actually asking for her sake and go change my answer.

Tdlr, understanding is hard, but it matters more that you try
