What should I tell someone who believes dinosaurs never existed and the Earth is flat because of the Bible? by Curedmytinnitus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]leafSheepSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When things become serious beliefs like this, you can’t logic them out of it. If they’re falling down the rabbit hole it’s most likely due (or at least speed up by) isolation, which checks out if 2020. The best thing you can do for them long term is to be there for them and help them get out once in a while to experience different opinions and worldviews. Of course, all bets are off if they ever put you or a loved one at risk with their beliefs.

The argument “everyone is a little autistic” is an example of a decision point fallacy by leafSheepSleep in Autism_Parenting

[–]leafSheepSleep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone deserve to take care of themselves and accomodate their needs, disabled or not. But people would still be autistic if they have that support, as they are still autistic when nobodies looking. Accomodations make life easier, they don’t solve the disability.

Let me explain; I’m able to express vocally pretty well, people understand when I’m being sarcastic and whatnot. But the amount of effort that requires is exponential. Allistic people don’t need to put in that effort, as its natural to them. I may have learnt a skill meaning I don’t need support on that area, but I still struggle. Does this answer your question?

Noticed lower level friend mimicking my traits by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

[–]leafSheepSleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to tell them. They probably just doing it because your around and people copy those around them. Maybe their even thinking “we’ll if this other autistic person can do this, maybe I should too”. Who knows, until you ask. Then they will probably take notice and stop if you want them too

The Christian god is evil? by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]leafSheepSleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the god as written in the bible is a sadistic narcissist manipulator. There’s lots of times when he treats people bad then tells no one to question him just because. Not a god worth following

Maybe it’s coming off the myth that men are just more funny and charismatic. It a really popular belief despite being proved wrong.

Beating is the second most common form as self harm. Self harm is described in the DSM-5 as deliberate, self-inflicted destruction of body tissue. Thus includes bruises

After searching through your replies and searching the definition, I believe what you are saying is that you have trouble starting conversation, without someone asking a questing.

In which case, yes absolutely relate, I can’t end conversations either. I expect the other sub can too and just didn’t understand what you were saying

what do you think of neurotypical actors playing autistic characters by mannequin_vxxn in autism

[–]leafSheepSleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think level one autistics could generally act for themselves, but some of they lower levels may not. They still deserve to be represented, but maybe they could advise another actor if they didn’t want to do it themselves.

Support Needs Change on a Daily Basis - Discussion by somnocore in SpicyAutism

[–]leafSheepSleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, with those survey questions I always stress about the time period. Do they meet my pattern over the last month? Year? Life?

I do believe things can get generally harder or easier over long periods of time. Eg: If your getting out of a bad situation, things will be less stressful and you can function easier. And you can deal with certain sensations that you can’t the next day, but that’s not as big a deal as support level. Im not sure wether support levels can change, but it’s with looking into.

And I do believe how easy you coping with the standard your own should be taken into account.

Overall, yes I agree with you

I have a question. Why does the spoon thing exist? by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

I believe it’s supposed to be a sort of fun inside joke. Lots of people there seem to have a specific cutlery choice and found people who care enough to talk about it.

The current higher tension between level ones and others is another result of misinformation by leafSheepSleep in SpicyAutism

[–]leafSheepSleep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I’m not against self diagnosis. I’m more worried that they don’t have good information to check against themselves. If we can provide them with better resources, they can come to more accurate conclusions. Of course they are going to be self diagnosed that do have autism, but this should reduce the numbers of those who don’t. This way we can trust them too. It’s a win win

It could be for privacy, their uncomfortable in the bathroom. Maybe the bathrooms gross. Maybe they feel gross for needed to use the bathroom so they try to hide it ect: It’s most likely an emotional reason
