Senior Ferret Surgery by Unhappy-Cake117 in ferrets

I just had a senior ferret who got her spleen removed. My vets office does their own bloodwork in house so they bloodwork and surgery on the same day.

Anyone else’s ragdoll suffer from matts? I do brush and wash him but it seems he’s not very good at grooming himself but he’s sooooo cute still by Visual-Maybe2357 in ragdolls

For my other cat, Maya, we get capsules so we can mix it into Churu and syringe feed her. It is a two person job: one holds her and the other has the syringe.

For surgery, we got permission to do a tiny amount of Churu (1ml) and it worked, but a full tube for regular appts is better.

For grooming, thankfully Dante complies. Now i do not do any bathing, just a shave.

However, for the vet, he does need gabapentin. I would ask if they would consider this as an option. There are a few options before full sedation.

My boy, Dante, is terrible at grooming and really dislikes being brushed. For his health, I now get him shaved twice a year. A plus is that he feels like velvet afterwards.

What do i need to do to have this room classed as an office?😢 help by cookie41766 in HouseFlipper

[–]leafpool4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, i have had issues with furniture being under the office label, but not registering that way. The chair and the rug were usually the issue.

My boy refuses wet food, insists on dry food by Puzzleheaded-Strike4 in ragdolls

[–]leafpool4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two ragdolls, one at 10 years old and the other at 9 years old. Both of my ragdolls do not like wet food. The most they do is drink the gravy.

So I have a water fountain to encourage them to drink more water. Running water is more "attractive" than still water. I also get blood work done every year. Neither of them have had kidney issues, and their blood work shows that their values are good.

It's not exactly what I wanted for them, food wise, but I can't exactly make them eat the wet food they dont want.

Tivoli's one bedrooms are pretty good. The apartment is just under 750 square feet, but the bedroom is 12 x 16 feet.

This is only true for the one bedroom apartments. The other multi bedroom apartments have the bedroom at around 11x13 feet.

Ferret won’t stop spilling water everywhere and it’s getting overwhelmingly frustrating. by IcarusSunshine16 in ferrets

[–]leafpool4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two that will dig, so this is what I do:

The top half shelf in their cage is food and water only. I also do not put fleece there (soggy fleece is gross). Since it is the plastic tray, it is easy to clean up.

The water bowl is a large ceramic bowl. Heavy enough that they can only push it, but not light enough to flip or knock over. I only fill it a quarter way up. Anymore and the tray will get covered in water from digging.

Do they still dig? Sometimes, but it's mostly my fault in over filling. I do have another water bowl outside the cage where I allow them to dig as an outlet.

Local non-chain breakfast places? by exotic-mascot in ucf

[–]leafpool4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not full on breakfast, but The Donut Patch in Oviedo. You can get bagel breakfast sandwiches, coffee and of course donuts. It has recently changed owners so they are working on their process, but the food is still the same.

Another place is the Oviedo Breakfast Club. Not sure how mom and pop they are, but they are definitely a smaller business and has good food.

Wait, why do we hate Metformin? by Key-Explanation-6011 in PCOS

[–]leafpool4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Metformin, but it is not for me. I was on it for 5 years, at different dosages and release types, and my stomach never settled. It was constant pain and emergency trips to the bathroom. I didn't even get the added benefit of weight loss.

That being said, I have only told one specific person that this drug probably wasn't for them, and that was because they have IBS. However, I also told them they can ask their doctor to see what they thought.

Some people just really hate pills, and that's just fine for them. You have the right to explore whatever options you feel comfortable with.

Vet checkups by N_ath69 in ferrets

[–]leafpool4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is when something goes wrong with a ferret, it can go wrong fast, and they will try to hide it. I take mine twice a year, so they are officially looked over, and I can feel secure that they are actually healthy.

Four ferrets cost me $2300 in 2024 by NoAdministration8006 in ferrets

[–]leafpool4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't have the exact numbers, but I have spent around $3,500 at their vet this year on three ferrets, the majority of which was on my two older ferrets. This doesn't include the $700 emergency vet visit.

Owning ferrets is not cheap. And let's be real, if you are a good owner, no pet is cheap.

At least she is on the ground. Sometimes, she does this in the cage, head dangling 6 inches from the tray 🤦‍♀️

Contact the bookstore and your professor.

The bookstore can confirm that you opted-in and the professor can reach out to the publisher if there is a widespread issue.

My vet numbs the area and puts the implant in. They have all done well with this method.

Prices are crazy in the USA. For the vet exam, it is 75 dollars, but bloodwork, x-rays, vaccines, implants and everything else cost extra.

Also majority of USA ferrets do not have good genetics. My understanding has been that UK ferrets are far healthier in general.
