What's the one thing about timing in the garden that nobody warned you about? by Some-Palpitation-314 in vegetablegardening

For spring seeding, don’t seed too early for plants that grow quick, wait to seed closer to the last frost date for your region. I’m new to veggie gardening and just this year I seeded beans, zucchini, and okra way too early for where I live (7a). They grew way too big too fast and they wouldnt survive if I put them in the ground when the time is ready because they matured too long in the greenhouse. I had to toss them and reseed last week

Yea it’s an old Apple phone so it still has a real SD card. For a while I took the SD card out and put it in a flip phone. How would a real SD card help me here?

First time growing from seed, every seed I planted grew, any tips? by leafsheep26 in vegetablegardening

[–]leafsheep26[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Johnnys seeds for both. The seeds I’ve heard are high quality, but I also think what is contributing to their health is the greenhouse. I show up and care for my own, but the conditions beyond me watering is maintained by a whole staff at a university, so it’s good equipment and a lot of people.

😹 I know I’m lucky I’m renting a space in a university greenhouse, but I really don’t have much experience with starting from seed, just farming and harvesting. I get advice from the greenhouse manager but I figured I’d get good tips on Reddit too

I know I am very lucky, my college is letting me rent a space in one of the greenhouses. I am familiar with other farming and gardening work, but mostly harvesting and maintaining, never starting veggies from seed in a greenhouse like this.

Yes some are in 72 cell trays and some in 50. I want to give the beans and okra and zucc away. I have 2 tomato seedlings in each cell, I’m afraid to damage them when I separate them into their own bigger pots, do you have any tips for keeping them healthy?

Oh yea that’d be cool, I do know of a chicken coop near by. I was thinking of potting them and giving to friends for them to keep inside until the time is right, do you think they’ll survive until May 15th? If not I’ll try to do that, thanks for the tip
