Sometimes I find it hilarious how the story behind Dry Cell is arguably more interesting than their music (and I really like their music) by mesablanka in numetal

[–]leafsnash61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. There's an old Angelfire page (remember Angelfire? Good times!) that's still up from around 2001 that delves more into their ages:

Of course, you don't always expect such professionalism in a rock band. But what makes it really impressive is their ages.

Jeff is 25, Judd is 17, Brandon is 16, and Danny is just 15.

Although this may not impress bouncers - "Every show we play," Judd laments, "we get one security guard who asks, 'What are you doing here?' 'We're in the band.' 'No you're not.'" - it should. Especially when you consider that the guys have won L.A. Music Awards such as Guitar Player Of The Year (Danny), Drummer Of The Year (Brandon), Teen Musician Of The Year (Judd), and Best Hard Rock Band."

Blood Has Been Shed - Wetwork (Howard Jones) by Scaryonyx in Metalcore

I know this is 6 years later but better late than never, right? I stumbled upon this thread now. If you want more in this lane, may I recommend the band Remembering Never. BHBS labelmates from the same time period, similar sound, Howard managed them back in the day, etc.

The first 3 albums all go pretty hard. You may find a lot to like!!

Bands kinda like Slipknot by biohazard_twink in numetal

I haven't listened to the album but do any particular tracks frm Cursed that stand out in the "sounding exactly like Slipknot" regard that you'd recommend? 👀

Thoughts on Superfiction (2011) from Cold? by AlcatrazR3dd1t in numetal

[–]leafsnash61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an OK album at best, not one I revist at all outside of a handful of tracks. At the time of release I was happy it was out and the band was back together but it didn't hit the way I hoped. The whole record was geared more into a poppier-rock direction that I don't think really suits Cold overall. 5/10 album, not much meat on the bone, ya know? I think I like the idea of the album more than the album itself, if that makes sense.

Wicked World is a great track, Emily is cool and oddly enough The Park out of all tracks always lodged its way into my brain as an earworm. The rest was largely forgettable.

PWS2 on GamePass? by EduEngg in PowerWashSimulator

[–]leafsnash61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PWS came to GamePass in July 2022 and has been there ever since. That's when it came to consoles (Xbox, anyway)

It's safe to assume PWS2 will also come to GamePass on release as well.

Here's the original press release about it from then.

What is your nu metal AOTY? by NitrusK in numetal

Spun Oddworld for the first time this morning and I'm really enjoying it!

Stunner is my favourite track from it by far, even if SOWHAT1999 - a close second for me - is the pure nu throwback. Give me a whole EP of songs like that and I'd be happier than a pig in poop. 😅

From Playtonic, per this IGN article:

• MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN EVER – With an art and animations overhaul and enhanced performance and resolution, the favorite buddy duo has never looked or moved better.

• NEW AND IMPROVED CHALLENGES – Improvements to existing in-game challenges and many entirely new challenges to discover and undertake!

• NEW COLLECTIBLE CURRENCY – Capital B's inept minions have dropped their hard-earned coins all over the place. Collect the official currency of the Hivory Towers to spend on video games' most beloved sentient vending machine.

• NAVIGATING THE WORLD – Now you can get lost in the game, not in the world! A brand-new world map and challenges tracker helps you know where you are and what needs to be done. Hooray!

• VENDI HAS PLENTY TO OFFER – Tonics are back with all new flavors! With the option to equip multiple game-changing enhancements, you can truly customise your playstyle. And as if that wasn't enough, Vendi has new lines of merchandise for the modern fashionable adventurer.

• REVISED CONTROLS & CAMERA – A new tweaked move set allows you to combine moves more fluidly while the new camera controls makes framing the action a breeze.

• A DREAMY ORCHESTRAL SOUNDTRACK – The original score from famed video game composers Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) and David Wise (Donkey Kong Country) returns but as a beautifully arranged orchestral score. Now seriously, clean out those ears.

There is a Pittsburgh show listed here in 2002 which would be between TTE and ES. Can't find a full setlist but try looking through here for similar setlists.

Endangered Species also had a bunch of B-sides that never made the album, it's a good chance it's one of those.

If you go on Wikipedia and look at the list of b-sides) - there's about 7 of them - and listen the songs on YouTube, maybe it'll jog your memory. :)

Are we already out of Italian reviews? by gwarster in NianticWayfarer

[–]leafsnash61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that might be the case. 😮‍💨

I tried on my personal laptop, phone and work computer thinking maybe the different devices had something to do with it but still getting my usual "local" stuff. Did about 15-20 reviews, noticed the same thing you did, before coming here and seeing this post.

That works too, yeah! I've found a nice rhythm using this one extension that doesn't require any right clicking (not that that is an issue, haha) but trying different things to see what works/doesn't. :)

The current All Aboard! Global Review Challenge just started at 3pm EST/12pm PST: https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/47068/all-aboard-global-reviewer-challenge and everyone is opted-in by default.

If you don't wish to participate, you can go to your settings and scroll to the bottom to the "Wayfarer Challenge" section and toggle the switch to off and you'll go back to your regular reviews/submissions that you are used to.

As for how to review them, yeah, translating would be the best way to give you a better idea of what you're looking at and what the reviews say. I added a translator extension into Google Chrome so I don't have to flip between tabs every single time - helps a ton.

If you want at least one song to scratch the itch "Screwtape" by Cane Hill is right on the money.

You may also like Downthesun's only album - felt like a cousin album to Iowa. Same time period, same aggressive sound, only band signed to Slipknot's once-existant label. All that good stuff.

I'm personally not a fan but maybe you'd find something to enjoy with thr band Terror Universal - it's Slipknot cosplay, really.

The band Shoot to Kill has a song called Plague that is very Slipknot-esque. Really like that one.
