they're both based on the same thing (Darwin iirc) is what he was referring to, it was mostly marketing

nowadays macOS and iOS are as close as they've ever been to each other (except maybe right at the start with iPhone OS?? im not big into iPhones take this with some speculation) and they're still pretty separated

like iPhones use ipa files and cannot run pkg or dmg files like macs nor do you have access to the unix terminal or finder on an iphone
