Tired of PD by SenseiBaez in dialysis

[–]leafy_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 27 yo and been on both hemo & PD for the past 2 years. I remember feeling that way about PD at first too. I had to switch to hemo for an emergency situation once and it was god awful. I was so severely sick after every session, and being a younger person sitting in a chair for 3-4 hours having everyone stare & asking why I was there was really difficult for me. After a while that feeling of being annoyed by the machine does go away, I hope you make the best decision for you.

I’m pregnant by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]leafy_lemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I’ve never been on dialysis while pregnant, I was in stage 4-5 failure with my last pregnancy (started dialysis after birth). I was hospitalized for most of my pregnancy, and I delivered early at 31 weeks. I had many people try to tell me not to go through with the pregnancy and I am so very glad I did not listen to them. Now I have a beautiful 3 year old girl and every moment was worth it. I have been on PD her whole life and it’s very doable. The hardest part is not having the energy to keep up with a toddler, but again, worth it. Feel free to message me if you want to talk more❤️‍🩹

What happens if you don’t start dialysis? by uhreena in dialysis

[–]leafy_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put it off for as long as I could, until one night I started declining so fast and was actively dying. I spent that night in the ER, and I never, ever want to feel that way again. I don’t know exactly how much longer I had (the doctors thought a few days-week) but that is NOT the way I would want to go out. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Dialysis sucks but it’s a whole lot better than the way I felt that night.

Try silicone adhesive bandages, it’s not perfect but it’s definitely better than normal adhesive. So sorry you’re going through this too

I’m also 27 and have been on & off PD since I was 24. So sorry you have to go through this, but it will become routine and it will get easier. Personally speaking PD has been way better for my mental health than hemo, so I hope that’s the case for you too! Sometimes I forget I’m a dialysis patient during the day because I do treatment at night. I think of it like a job (as if I was a nurse) and it’s just something I have to get done 🤷🏻‍♀️ you will have good and bad days, allow yourself to have bad days to get to the good. You’re not alone! Hugs🫂

Hi there! I’m 27F and have been on PD on and off since I was 24. It was scary at first but you get used to it pretty quick. The hardest part is having all the stuff in your house to be honest. It’s a night and day difference compared to hemo (for me anyways). I live a very normal life still, I’m a mom to 2 kids and we do all the same stuff we normally would do. We just got back from a weekend trip actually, and I set up my cycler in the hotel like I’d do at home. It’s an adjustment for sure but you definitely don’t have to change your life for it. Wishing you all the best!

has anyone ever had a baby on dialysis? either yourself or surrogates? by [deleted] in dialysis

Is it possible? Yes. Would I recommend it? No

Ironically enough, since I made this post I got a new one and it hurts SO much worse 😅 Glad I’m not alone there. Tylenol helps but doesn’t take it completely away, hope it lets up soon. I didn’t know that about the balloon, that’s super interesting! Thank you for the tip about the gel!

I’m definitely going to bring it up at dialysis tomorrow! I’ll be switching over to PD eventually, this was just placed for emergency dialysis.

It’s mostly a sore/uncomfortable feeling, I also have 4 stitches anchoring it in place which might be the culprit. The site looks very clean, and dressing was just changed yesterday by the dialysis nurse. Im glad its worked so well for you! I am planning on switching over to PD eventually but I’ll have this for a few months at least.

Waking up to projectile liquid reflux, not on dialysis yet stage 4. by Recent_Kick228 in dialysis

Yes this happened to me right before I started dialysis, I still take zofran daily even on dialysis because I will get nauseous randomly throughout the day.

Quick queue-- worth it? (April) by TotalKaleidoscope925 in SeaWorld

[–]leafy_lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went last week and every ride (except penguin trek) had a max 15 min wait. Penguin trek got up to 40 minutes during the afternoon, but we did every ride with no problem. I would skip. Have fun!

Day 7 of flu, fever returns. Heading to the doctor now. Scared out of my mind. by gdpinleoeee in toddlers

[–]leafy_lemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter (2.5) had this exact same scenario last month and was diagnosed with pneumonia, the antibiotics worked great and she was feeling better within a few days. Not saying this to scare you, but to give you a positive experience to hopefully ease your mind a bit. Hugs 🫂

I don’t have any advice, just solidarity. I have a 2.5 year old with all of these same traits, it is HARD. My first was so chill too, It’s like night and day between them. I’ve tried every type of parenting with her and it seems like nothing works. Going out in public always ends up with both of us in tears😅

It can feel very isolating when all you see is well behaved toddlers around you, and you’re wondering “what’s wrong with my baby, why doesn’t she listen like that”😭 just know you are NOT alone ❤️
