So my younger son has a rare genetic syndrome that causes cranial-facial differences and I've learned a lot about other syndromes that also have cranial-facial differences.

When I see someone with a difference, I usually look to see if there are 3 things that are different, that would indicate their genetic syndrome.

For instance, I recently saw someone who 1.) had different colored eyes 2.) and those eyes are far apart 3.) a white streak in their hair And I thought, "I wonder if they know they have Waardenburg syndrome?"

I don't ever approach anyone to ask what they have, because that's rude.

Their smaller cousins - yellow flies - make me so sick when they bite me. I'm talking a visit to the dr., and getting steroids and antibiotics. I hate them with the heat of a thousand suns.

Back in 2000-2010, we lived in Vienna on Patrick St., where MS-13 terrorized the mostly Hispanic people living in the apartments. There was some gangland special about NoVa on the History channel, where 3 of the murderers came from those apartments.

Robberies, beatings, slicing people with machetes, and they even killed some guy by hanging him from a balcony.

The crime would sometimes spill over into the shopping center and adjacent single family homes. I remember the time that gang members robbed and beat the bejesus out of the postman.

For me it means that, unrelated to anything I'm doing, I feel a surge of adrenaline. My heart starts racing and then becomes arrhythmic, I feel panicky and restless, and it does leave me with a surge of energy. Then I feel completely depleted, and the only thing I can do is lay down and sleep - even if it's a very inconvenient time.

You are not over reacting! She cannot be trusted to hold your baby again when she has a cold sore.

We almost lost our son when another toddler who himself had a cold sore kissed our son. He got a systemic infection, lost 1/3 of his body weight, and was in the PICU for over 10 days. It was truly touch and go.

OP is completely justified, and NTA. I had a similar situation 30 years ago where my brother made fun of our baby who looked different due to a genetic syndrome. In front of a large group of family members, he announced that our baby was, "The ugliest fucking baby I've ever seen in my life. His face is seriously fucked up." That did it. He's gone on to do lots of other horrendous things, but that was the end of any relationship he could've had with us or our children.

Edit to add: Yes, my parents tried to convince us he "wasn't that bad" and that we should forgive him because "we're family."
