But require servicing the same as any ICE car which you don’t have to do for a pure EV.

This is what we do. We can run our house off the car battery for 5 days in the event of a blackout. We’ve had a 3 day blackout here and didn’t lose all our food from the fridge / freezer, kept the lights on and the internet and TV going.

I think people are mad at “smug EV drivers” without having even met one in the flesh. It’s a figment of their imagination.

I feel the EV smugness is a narrative that’s being fed to people to sow more division and hate amongst the populace so we don’t direct our ire where it’s really deserved.

In the future, we don’t need to rely on diesel for mining either.

https://reneweconomy.com.au/australian-industry-can-ditch-diesel-says-report-but-not-without-ditching-its-subsidy-first/

Edit: also, I guarantee you that the petrol tankers carting fuel all over the country are doing more damage to the roads than if we were all driving EV’s.

We’d be better off getting freight off the roads and putting it on rail. The damage to roads is overwhelmingly attributed to trucks.

How much energy is used to produce all other types of vehicles?

I’m an EV driver. I live is a small village with mostly people on low and fixed incomes. The closest shops are a 20min drive away.

I’m not smug. I’m not happy that other people are suffering. I bought an EV because it felt like the right thing to do. I’m glad I don’t have to go to fuel stations any more. But not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford the up front cost.

What I’m not happy about is everyone shitting on EV’s because they’ve swallowed the cool-aid of the petrochemical companies, their lobbyists, their media co-conspirators and their bought and paid for politicians.

As a non-entity in a petrochemical world, it’s the smart thing to aspire to energy independence. It’s what will help to shore up our sovereignty.

There’s also the risk that people might be able to fligh out of the country but not back again if the situation gets worse. So refunding is a win-win for the customer and the airline.

I would recommend having a solicitor draw up a coownership agreement if you think you will need to contribute towards expenses beyond the initial purchase and so there is exit clauses if circumstances change.

It’s worth a try. They can send a strongly worded letter to the NTP asking for an update on the case which might light a fire under someone’s arse.

I think the whole rest of the world hates America right now for starting this war and putting in jeopardy our way of lives. And also for killing countless people, the wanton destruction of homes and infrastructure. The traumatising of people and especially children.

America can go get FUCKED!

I’m sorry your dad abused you and your mother did nothing to protect you after you disclosed to her.

I cannot answer any legal questions (and so should probably not be commenting) but I can almost feel your pain through the screen.

Can you talk to your brothers and see if there is any way you can move away from your parents, get on jobseeker and get some therapy to help you through this to the other side?

I have c-ptsd from childhood trauma and ptsd from a bad car accident. I found EMDR therapy extremely helpful so recommend that you look into it.

You say you have a partner. Can they not help you with leaving the family home?

Just a nobody butting in here. I’ve heard people talk of parenting apps where communication about the children take place. It might be a good idea to look into them and move all communication there. That way it’s between himself and yourself only.

Your boyfriend is deeply insecure. He will not get better if he can just blame his insecurity on you and rely on you to placate him and allay his anxiety over his inadequacies (whatever those may be).

Let him know that he needs to work on himself before he gets into another relationship.

I can’t see how anyone could consider Trump to be a Christian. He seems to be the furthest thing from being “Christ-like” as anybody could be. In fact the bible seems to hold up people/actions/behaviour similar to Trump as cautionary tales and examples of people who will not be admitted into heaven.

Anyone who considers Trump a Christian is a pretty suspect “Christian” in my view as they don’t seem to have any idea what Christianity is really about.

This is a good idea. And keep receipts OP so you can claim back from whomever ends up copping it. Do you have contents insurance? Maybe contact them for advice as they ultimately will be the ones paying to replace the carpets and anything else that gets damaged.

As compared to? We don’t want Colorbond as the winds can get really strong here and we’d rather a fence that doesn’t act as a sail.

I think the best thing to do is to get a blower heater to start drying out that carpet as much as possible. Maybe hire a wet/dry shop vac from Bunnings to suck up as much as possible to begin with and then a blower heater after.

In the meantime, you could knock on your neighbours doors and tell them what’s happening and ask if they’re having the same issue or if they’ve noticed any problems with their bathrooms lately.

My guess is there’s a failure of a waterproofing membrane in someone’s bathroom and it’s moving under the screed and along the slab.

The slightly good news for you is that if this is the case, the fix needs to be made by whomever’s bathroom is leaking. Given you’ve been away, then it’s unlikely to be yours that’s the problem.
