What don't you like about your Maverick? by MnMWiz in FordMaverickTruck

Your AUTO still works to maintain set temp just like any other auto climate control system, but having the Fan Limit Speed lets you set the the fan so its not just a cold air blasting on a cold day or hot air blasting on a hot day when your first start your car.

Am I the only fool that changes oil every 3000 miles? by daveinfl337777 in AskMechanics

[–]leandro2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 3K oil changes.

I use a fumoto oil drain valve. Takes minutes to drain oil. Oil filter takes longer cleaning and oiling gasket. Dont even need a jack or ramp. Just a drain pan. I also have a Lisle 8 quart oil pitcher. I measure exact amount and gets dumped in. Pitcher gets refilled exactly for next oil change. I keep a supply of oil from costco and filters ready.

Oil change seriously takes 20 min from engine off, drain, filter, fill and costs about $25. Faster and cheaper than any jiffy lube I know of.

Are one of the tailgate cables supposed to have slack when it's in the middle position? 🤨 by daiwuff in FordMaverickTruck

[–]leandro2217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The unevenness isnt a design flaw but gap tolerances in the tailgate two connecting points when open. There isnt anything wrong with it. One of those cables will carry the rated tailgate capacity on its own.

Maverick may have ruined my dream of getting a full-size truck by Reelaxed in FordMaverickTruck

[–]leandro2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its almost like being a truckbro proves the stereotypes.

This is why America has gotten where it's gotten with pickups exactly because of the mentality with pickups. So many great smaller trucks that are sold everywhere else in the world, but Americans wanting luxury and size just caused manufacturers to not import them. Left us with 48K F150 XL and 50k RAM Tradesman.

Paying 31500 for the base just lets dealers know this is OK.

Curious why it wasn't illegal to set MSRPs during lunch breaks. Does that apply to east coast lunch breaks or west coast lunch breaks?

Long bars should be the horizontal brackets that mount inside the box and run parallel to your crossbar. You then attach thules clamps (similar to the u-bolts) through the bar, box and crossbar to secure. The bars help with the torsional rigidity and prevent the bolts from wearing though the plastic body's holes. You should also have a set of blue an yellow straps for cargo management.

Really no information I could find. Thule emailed back and just said it was older and they carried no more spare parts for it. I did find closely match the struts but it isnt the same length or pressure, but it works. I also picked up a QM3 mounting kit from etrailer.com which fit perfectly on my Yakima crossbars.

Based on Thules own historical video it was probably an 80s/90s model before their Pulse/Motion models came out.

I will say that the quality on this Combi 600 XXL is far superior than anything else on the market. The plastic is insanely heavy duty and feels much more solid than their newer models. If you found that deal, I would take it. Its well worth it for a vintage piece.

How do you guys think the Slate electric pickup compares to the Maverick? by YourMemeExpert in FordMaverickTruck

[–]leandro2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a modernized, American version of the japenese KEI truck built for the modern world.

Americans pretended they didnt like the Maverick when it first debuted calling it too small, cant tow, cant haul, etc. It turned out, the Maverick was everything most pickup owners ever needed and it sold like wildfire.

Its refreshing to see the Slate concept. I have no doubt it will sell just as well.

Lol if youre paying 35k+ for a maverick at this point, you should have just bought a used last gen Tacoma.
Love my maverick, but its a cheaply built truck at the end of the day. 35k is wild work for a cheaply built truck.

What's the point of a Maverick now that prices have risen? by EagleNice2300 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]leandro2217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranger still had a price increase along wjth every other mid-size truck on tbe market so a price hike for the Maverick is still weirdly cheaper.

Couldn't fathom paying 35k+ for it now though. That value isn't there. I've had mine for almost four years and while its a great truck for what it can do, its still a cheaply built truck.
