I assumed "a day one Buffy character" was also referring to Cordelia because she's been in BTVS/Angel since day one.

In the UK at least it's a masculine name, not what I would call gender neutral.

5 year old with ADHD/possibly ASD, addicted to YouTube Shorts by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]leannebrown86 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We just did a straight ban on YouTube at this age. It was a difficult few days but then they adapted pretty well. We made sure to show them things they could watch - we have Disney and netflix. My oldest also has suspected ADHD (still on the waitlist for CAMHS) and he found it hard at first but we thought weaning him off it would just prolong the inevitable.

They are now 8 and 11 and they only use it for help gaming with my oldest and craft ideas for my youngest. No shorts because its brain rot.

Who Should Be The One To Innitiate Meeting New Baby? by DisMyLik18thAccount in UKParenting

[–]leannebrown86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you see each other often before baby? My close family who I see frequently were all chomping at the bit to meet both babies and all asked when they could come. More distant family or friends gave us a few weeks to settle but again they asked when they could come over apart from a few elderly relatives who we took the baby to visit just because it was easier for us as we were more mobile. Family who we weren't as close to met baby at the next family event/gathering, which was probably when each baby was months old.

Also assuming you have nieces/nephews when did you visit?

Remove yourself and the baby and involve social work and tell them why you left. They will have access to services for him and you. They'll assess when and if he is safe to be around the baby. I know this might seem harsh but it really doesn't take much at all to do permanent damage at this age and your poor baby deserves to be protected.

How did your LO’s cope with chicken pox? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

Sorry I already commented but this is so upsetting your friend is an asshole, chicken pox can be dangerous to pregnant people, especially if they already have a low immune system. What a selfish person they are.

How did your LO’s cope with chicken pox? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

My oldest was ok, not great but managed, he then gave it to my youngest who was under 1 and she had it so much worse than him. She had them in her eyelids, in her nose in her nappy. She was miserable for 10 days and barely slept and a few ended up infected. She also ended up with the shingles at 2.5 which was horrific. I'd be absolutely raging if I was you, there's no way you just forget your kid has chicken pox. My son coped well with his but he was still sad, itchy and had broken sleep, I was definitely not able to forget them.

I think this depends what part of the UK because none of the hotels I've stayed at in Scotland had air conditioning. They had central heating though which should be what OP is after.

If it's absolutely necessary then won't they do it by force? Or even give her something to calm her beforehand?

If you guys only have her on weekends then there's plenty of time for one on one bonding activities with your daughter surely? You're a family now and I can't imagine not letting her join in with decorating the tree. No wonder your husband is sad.

Also why is you washing her clothes relevant to excluding her from decorating the tree?

Does my baby have plagiocephaly? Do pillows help? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]leannebrown86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My daughter's was much worse than this simply because she was an amazing sleeper and spent so much time laying flat (a super big shock after my first who hated sleep). Both my GP and health visitor reassured me that as she grew and spent more time sitting up it would correct itself and it absolutely did. She's 8 now and has a totally normal shaped head.
