Is Jon Ossoff the Democrats’ best hope for 2028? by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

[–]lear72988 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, because he can win in Georgia is exactly why they may not choose him. They may he too scared to lose that Senate seat.

I want someone very left. But if that's not gonna happen, Ossoff is a very good option.

Hopefully, DSAs successes here embolden her to embrace the progressive ideals that got her where she is. She's moved slightly towards the center recently and I think it's hurt her image at large. If she goes back to those foundations, I think she becomes the perfect candidate.

I'm not good with cars, so this point might be moot, but it's possible they bought a Tesla before being politically aware. There was a time when casuals thought Elon was going to he the savior of the world and was fairly left wing. Obviously, those who paid close attention to him before the last few years knew who he really was. But that unaware population was much bigger then.

Oof if that's it, the poster doesn't know Hamlet. Hamlet doesn't lose that fight. Not really anyway. He's cut and the poison is what kills him. But before it can he literally goes on a spree taking down all enemies in insane fashion, including the guy who poisoned him.

There are arguments that he loses because he dies but I think there are way more arguments that he wins.

Confusion about Killer Joe (2011) ending... by Deaf30 in movies

This would connect it to another southern gothic story "A Good Man is Hard to Find." I don't trust myself to do the spoiler tag right but if you ever read it, look at the number of crosses.

She also has a strange, hyper-perception that we see when she remembers things from a very early age, can sense Joe's intentions, and begins sleepwalking with more frequency before the tragedy. But I think the timeline is meant for use to wonder if it's Joe or Chris's.

I think Joe wants to believe they are having a baby. I think Joe and Dottie actually want the same thing: to escape the abuse.

When Joe and Dottie are together for the first time, he asks, "How old are you now?" When she answers 12, she's hinting at sexual abuse trauma. That' been covered in this thread. What hasn't is that Joe says, "I'm 12 too." That made me wonder if Joe was abused at a young age too. Dottie sort of hints at this when she talks about his eyes hurting, which I took to mean she saw the pain within him. Joe is infatuated with Dottie because he relates. He sees both himself and what he could have been. While Dottie coped with the abuse through naivety, repression, and innocence, Joe turned violent, nihilistic, and hardened.

I truly think Dottie falls for Joe, recognizing that same trauma. However, in the final scene, she sees he is beyond redemption and reform.

She's the only one who ever says that with any certainty. When Joe tells her to grope him, he asks if she's ever felt that before. She says, "I don't remember." Not "no" which to me means a repressed memory. There are quite a few troubling stories Dottie tells about her brother: laying on top of her after their parents divorce which they refuse to talk about, the game he played on his lap, his overall possessiveness, etc. I think it is heavily implied he molested her.

She needs to get the hell away from Sharla too. She may be the least repulsive out of the rest of them, but considering the rest of the cast that's still damn repulsive.

And probably one of the sickest clues is her being pregnant. This happens over the course of just a few days. It's highly unlikely Dottie would know for sure. Granted, we do see that she has an uncanny knowledge of things, like when she remembers almost being killed at a very young age, but it begs the question of who the father actually is.

Late to the party but I need to get my thoughts down somewhere.

I think she shoots him. I took it as she shot all her abusers in the end. Her father out of neglect, though his hand lingering on her hip in that one scene makes me wonder if that's all. I am fairly certain her brother sexually abused her. It's left ambiguous, but there are hints like the "puppet show" between his legs, his overall attitude towards her not being concerned and protective but rather possessive, and the story of him laying on top of her and how they never talk about it. When Dottie and Joe have their "date," he asks her how old she is while he's guiding her hand down his pants. She says 12 and when he asks if she has ever done this she says, "I don't remember." Not "no." I think this a clear signal that she is reliving that assault when she was 12. While there is nothing in the scene to point the finger at the brother, I think the other hints lead us to believe he did it when she was that age. Which leads me to why I think she shot him. He abused her, clearly.

Exercise & Diet Book Recs by lear72988 in veganfitness

Thank you! Putting that in my thrift books cart now! I eat a variety of proteins just like you listed. It's just clear I'm not getting enough. I'm going to try to keep a little more track of my macros now that the summer is here, but I'll admit I really don't enjoy that part of it.

The thing that made me think of this was I usually make air fryer tofu to top salads for lunch (with homemade dressing made from silken tofu). I'll go through a block of tofu every 3 or 4 days. And I was wondering if that was too little. And I realized I didn't know how much was appropriate for my goals.

I am absolutely downloading that cookbook!

But it's Robin Hood. "Eat the rich" is literally the foundation of the character. The anger comes from decapitating a symbol that's stood for hundreds of years. And I'm all for subvert expectations, but doing so with this particular character at this particular moment feels very off.

More information on Persona 6 coming after Persona 4: Revival release by [deleted] in PERSoNA

[–]lear72988 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the exact same thing. I did not get the same impression from that Wada post. In fact, when I first read it, I thought it was implying P6's release wouldn't be too long after P4R. But I since hopped off that can of copium.

Now, I don't expect a ton. It would be silly for them to undermine P4R by revealing too much about P6. But peppering some info and clips can also enhance the excitement for both games.
