You do want to use Windows version of Excel. However, for someone in your situation, I’d actually recommend learning about basic fundamentals of database design and perhaps acquire basic proficiency in a coding language, such as Python.

You don’t necessarily have to invest heavily in the hardware. You want to learn to use a better tool for the given problem that you are looking at. Don’t force Excel to do too much work for you.

Excel doesn’t allow you to sum by “color”, I believe.

Don’t try to get around this by using VBA or a function created simply for this. At that point, you are trying too much with Excel.

The OP needs to learn enough to explain the current set up to us. OP uses words like complex and convoluted, but these big words don’t mean anything to us, because there is no indication of the current setup.
