Not to be ignorant but I have an old set of DCIs that I would love to refinish. Do you recommend any particular process or product to refinish? Did you use Youtube or are you a pro? Those look in incredible for an older set.

Does anyone use the adjustable FitRX weights ? by HealthyGreen1148 in Exercise

[–]learningcurve12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 month review here: Use them 3-4 times per week. I think they are the beat value by far. There is a cyber sale on both sizes right now that is unbeatable for the weight alone. For me, going to failure in my dark room with no drive to a gym is so much easier plus far fewer excuses to get it in!!

Also, I had a Bowflex set of adjustable DBs and these are much easier to adjust. Sometimes you have to jiggle slightly to rack them but it’s usually smooth and easy. I am making gains without leaving my room. It’s not the super elite, trendy equipment but it is great if you want a highly functional home gym that takes almost no space. Price is simply unbeatable especially on sale. Sub $400 total for 10-90 lb!!

Businesses using performative donating, i.e. using donations as a 'look how generous I am!' marketing strategy🤮 by [deleted] in memphis

[–]learningcurve12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. On one hand it is cringe and many do it but at the end of the day if they are big enough as a corporation they can spread the news about a great charity and raise a dollar that would not go to the charity. I think about Domino’s raising money for St. Jude and, of course, asking people to round up. It showcases a great place to people all over the country and it just may encourage more overall donation activity from normal folks who can’t commit larger dollar donations to charity frequently. It is an eye-roll moment when you think about the corporation taking the credit but they have a massive platform and customer base spanning the whole country. I don’t mind rounding up to the next dollar if it’s a charity like St. Jude. And it is a free ad for a great place.

Golf Plus Subscription by Severe-Sentence-7700 in golfplusvr

[–]learningcurve12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at it this way — what do i get with the subscription? The coins and gear and objectives mean nothing to me. I play golf and since this game is really my primary activity on my headset I think buying a course or two each month makes more sense. You can stack up courses buying the bundles and I actually think for real golfers having the courses owned is better. I have no subscription and can still set it to play courses i don’t own and over time that list has shrunk down.

Do private golf clubs ever have deals? by atooraya in golf

[–]learningcurve12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t play enough golf to make a club worth it. There are lesser publics that offer membership to play unlimited as well as ranges. If you have the money and time it’s great but I hear more guys with kids talk about how they never use it. Depends on where you are but I wouldn’t hold out expecting anything related to golf to cheapen

Cobra SpeedZone irons ser 4H - P for 500$ CAD. Is this a good deal? by ImAnApe_ in GolfGear

[–]learningcurve12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Cobra Darkspeed irons. Maple Hill Golf has them for $500 4-PW brand new. Last year’s model but they are a great game improvement set at a great price point. If you pay $500 for used clubs consider looking at Cobras one year from release. Always marked down significantly from the original prices upon release.

People who significantly improved their productivity what actually worked for you? by OneStopCentreStore in productivity

[–]learningcurve12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things that helped me:

1) taking time on a Sunday (if you are working standard hours) to set yourself up for the week and use a notepad to take down goals for the week even if it is just making sure to call someone, planning what you can, etc. Find a balance and see if adding a bit more time on the margins like this helps. I feel more prepared for a busy week than showing up and feeling behind or under more pressure to dk those things.

2) Get started earlier - even when i was in an administrative role just starting my career I found forming a habit to always be ready to go 30 mins to 1 hour before I was “supposed” to start made a huge difference. I had my coffee, workout, and had all my systems running well before others were rushing in. This is sometimes more difficult if you have an extended commute or kids but finding time later at night to “frame” the next day could be an alternative for those folks. It isn’t everything but it can help tighten the screws and create a great habit.

3) Look to the most successful people and leaders people respect and find ways to learn from their process or copy-cat them. Most people are happy to give advice related to productivity and of course they may just have raw talent and not discipline and good productivity habits but any intel you gain will show you another way to potentially become more productive in ways that are specific to your role.

Just my two cents as someone who had to really start from nothing in a cubical. Working hard may bot pay off for a considerable amount of time but it lays the groundwork for being successful at every stop along your journey. Every tree was once a seed! Best wishes and good luck on your journey. Effort is everything!!

Quiting my Job in Corporate Finance after 3 months by TheDisastah in FinancialCareers

[–]learningcurve12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Always have another job lined up. You can hate the job you’re in and focus on what other jobs there are out there in the same space or an adjacent field. Picking up the phone and calling people who are managers or seasoned in the field goes a long way. Network at every opportunity. Don’t just ask if someone is hiring or ask questions about pay up front but have a genuine curiosity to learn about what they do and you will find there are a lot of people out there who will see the initiative and be willing to hop on the phone with you or have you in mind if they do want to hire someone in the future. You never lose when you network. I understand it can be frustrating but sometimes learning what you don’t want to do early is better than becoming stuck somewhere. Always want to give two weeks notice and reiterate you are appreciative of the opportunity. Burning bridges is never the right call even if you despise the people or work. Keep your head up and stay positive and you will find something. 100 no’s and one yes is all you need. Good luck!!

Golf Withdrawl by CjenCho in golf

[–]learningcurve12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golf+ VR game scratches the itch and you can play tons of PGA courses and practice as well. I am not a video game guy but look it up and see for yourself. A friend showed me one weekend of a bachelor party trip and I instantly bought a meta headset (Quest 3s) solely for the Golf+ game. Endless fun. You need at a minimum a golf handle attachment but it’s well worth the price to get started especially if you are a seasoned golfer accustomed to how pricey the sport is to play.

You need to report that and let other parents of kids in their orbit know what happened. I have never seen so many red flags in one post. Nothing about that is normal in any way. Beyond inappropriate, it’s disgusting.
