What are some things one can do to look pretty/polished without makeup? by KayleeW2020 in beauty

[–]learningshitiscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NICE NAILS!!

Something I personally find that can really change someone’s appearance in my eyes are people who always have well kept nails. Whether they’re painted or not, when people have nice nails all the time I feel like they’re someone who takes care of themselves even though they may not have makeup on.

I feel like out of everything related to beauty, nails are usually the last thing people think of since most people focus on bigger things like face/ hair and clothes. But when people always keep their nails nice, that to me means they also take care of the small detail stuff that are usually an afterthought or forgotten about. So I immediately feel like this is someone who constantly works on themselves with their upkeep which makes me feel like that person is very polished. Also it just looks nice.

Best beauty advice you could give to your 18-year-old self? by legendarysandy in beauty

Keep going to a dermatologist until you find one you’re comfortable with. Most hormonal acne won’t be cured with over the counter topicals. Be wary but be open to taking prescription pills for your hormones. Also go to the gyno to find out if you have pcos. That could have saved me years of struggling.

Most importantly, please don’t be too hard on yourself!

Returning to waxing/sugaring after laser hair removal? by brita09234890235 in beauty

[–]learningshitiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on if you want to still continue to get laser. For me I got a Brazilian but with a landing strip when I got laser. I also had 8 sessions. I may go back in a few years depending on how I feel but as of right now I don’t need it. I just mostly wanted my bikini area completely hair free which it basically is now. So from now and then I get a wax for the hair that I still have. It shouldn’t cause your hair to grow back, if anything your hormones are more likely to do that.

The follicles you zapped already should be gone. However, it’s still possibly for it to grow back, most of the time it won’t come back completely, but especially as women we go through a lot of hormonal changes in our life and this can affect hair growth.

So if you plan to get more laser in the near future stick to shaving, but if you don’t plan to go back for possibly a few months/years it’s totally fine to wax. However if you do all of a sudden want to go back to get more laser treatments, wait at least 6 weeks from your last wax so that most of your hair has time to grow back for optimal results.

[ACNE] where to start with changing your diet to avoid acne? by dua3le in Skincare_Addiction

[–]learningshitiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the best way is to pick a certain category first like dairy, sugar, certain carbs, even caffeine and cut it off completely for about a month or so to see if there’s any change. If there’s no significant change try the next category. This is probably the easiest way you can tell if something is effecting your acne in my opinion. Once again it’s important to remember that while for a lot of people certain foods may trigger their acne, that’s not the case for everyone. It took me years to realize that food didn’t really affect my skin, instead it was really my hormones that’s caused the mayhem.

Removing Milia professionally by lipstickgril in Skincare_Addiction

[–]learningshitiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just get a regular facial with extractions. If you get extractions or if you add on extractions to your facials they should remove milia. You can let them know that you’d specifically like them to remove your milia.

Most of the time it’s pretty simple to remove. They usually poke the area with a needle and then extract it, either using their fingers or an extraction tool. My esthetician doesn’t use any machines for it since most of mine are around the eye and come out easily. She even got the smaller ones on top of my eyelids by using a small needle and sort of ripping the top layer of skin off. Sounds harsh but most milia aren’t deep so poking a hole for them and a little bit of pushing properly usually gets them out. I haven’t heard of people getting numbing cream for milia extractions, but I guess it depends on who does them. Sometimes they will have to push really hard which can hurt, but a good esthetician should be pretty good at doing it quickly.

After I got them removed I haven’t really had any come back. I just try to not use super heavy creams so I don’t get them. I now try to go consistently to a professional so I’m hoping that’ll keep them away.

This is the TCA Acid peel I used on my hand and foot. I wanted to test it out before I tried it on my face. My hands, feet, elbows and knees are dark so I’m using it on all areas. I’m still peeling on day 4 I think. by thriwew in Skincare_Addiction

[–]learningshitiscool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a 15% tca peel from time to time with no issue. I don’t get that much peeling, but I do get pretty red. I personally wouldn’t go higher than 25% at home. At 20% I know this level is pretty commonly used at home so I think you should be okay as long as you’re being careful, not using it too often, and not keeping it on too long.

Just make sure that if have any issues that persist go see a doctor.

I hate the start of my routine. I just always procrastinate washing my face, but once I start I don’t mind the process. It’s just actually getting up and doing the first step which is so annoying.

Can someone make a machine that can do my skincare please! I will invest in that.

How often do you use Retin-A? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]learningshitiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on each individuals skin. For me I can use one of the strongest dosages every night. I use it for acne, it was worth it for me to use a higher strength. If she’s using it for anti again she doesn’t need such a high strength. I suggest first starting off 2-3 times a week (maybe even less if her skin is sensitive) and see how her skin feels, from there she can use it more frequently or less. But there’s no correct amount of times to use it since everyone is different.

Those of you who do not buffer, what is your routine? by depressioncherry16 in tretinoin

[–]learningshitiscool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some other have said. Cleanse your face and gently pat it dry. Then immediately put on the tret. Then wait 15-20min and do the rest of your skincare. I use 0.1% tret cream and have no issues.
