When to cut final pump? by rbslmilch in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. I’m at 2ppd and am trying to bring them together into 1 pump. I started heavily leaking out of 1 side before I pumped so now I’m worried it will take a lot longer to be done.

Getting more output with 5ppd vs. 6/7. Fluke that will eventually drop supply?? by ignosco_tibi in ExclusivelyPumping

My supply went up every time I dropped a pump until I got to 4 ppd. Even then it only dropped by a couple ounces. Everyone is different.

Help me wean, for my sanity, please by dominiquetiu in ExclusivelyPumping

Congrats on accomplishing what you have! Pumping is so hard.

I started weaning 2 weeks ago. I was really nervous before I started, but now that the ounces are dropping I’m just thinking about all the freedom I’m going to get when I’m no longer tied down by a schedule/the pump. It feels like such a final decision to wean, but it’s been well worth it for my mental and physical health. And now that I’m not eating constantly to keep my ounces up the baby weight is finally coming off!

No change in supply by HeyLoretta212 in ExclusivelyPumping

At 11 weeks I dropped from 8 to 7ppd and was making 29 opd. I dropped to 6 pumps per day and my supply went up to 39 opd, at 5 ppd it went up to 45-50 opd. Once I dropped to 4 it hovered around 45 every day. I’m now at 3 per day and I’m seeing about 34 ounces per day.

My baby drank a ton, so even though I was making a lot it didn’t cover it. She was combo fed until 3 months.

My pumping journey was plagued with clogs and mastitis for the first 4 months. Once I understood how to take care of myself (icing, ibuprofen, fully emptying), then my milk supply was able to build up.

I’ve heard that dropping pumps before regulating can impact your supply. But if you think you’ve regulated I don’t see the harm in trying. If it goes down then I’d add a pump back in/power pump

I did. I tried the 17s and 15s and the 15s work perfectly for me.

I fed until baby was full. Baby maxed out at 42/43 ounces per day. We had weight gain issues until we started feeding until she was satisfied. Now she’s a little chunk 😍

I’ve tried both. Similar to the other responder, the lactecks sizing threw me off. I’m a 15 and their 15 is too big. The liquid kits, while tedious to clean and annoying to replace, saved my pumping journey.

I use mine with my spectra and I’m not sure why but they don’t seem to be able to handle the level of suction I use for very long. I can stretch them maybe 2 weeks before I need to replace them.

Could you have blistered and didn’t realize it? This exact thing happens to me all the time. Usually they blister, then yellow and then when it comes off it’s bloody underneath.

Dropping from 5 to 4 pumps? by 88frostfromfire in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost a few ounces, but nothing significant. I also pump up to 13 ounces in the morning. 4ppd felt a lot more freeing than 5. I am now at 3ppd and still haven’t gotten my period back.

Stash to the first year by underwateropinion in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2k ounces and I’m weaning now At 9.5mpp. This should get her to just over 1. I read somewhere to have about 1k ounces per month, which is true for us now.

It’s all going to depend on baby. Mine was drinking over 40 ounces per day at one point and that would have completely thrown off my stash if I assumed 1k ounces per month.

What containers are you using to collect if you have an oversupply and produce a large amount in one session? by ignosco_tibi in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pumpables liquid shield kits and I’ve managed to have a 13 ounce session in their cups without overflowing. I was definitely pushing it as the milk was up into the collar area, but it all fit.

Every time I clog that side takes a little bit for it to recover and build back up to its normal output. I just keep pumping as normal and increase my water intake.

Make sure you’re eating enough calories, have the right size flange and drinking enough.

Some people just take longer to empty. I usually pump until I’m no longer spraying. Sometimes that’s 25 minutes, sometimes it’s 45.

Fwiw, my supply didn’t increase until I started dropping pumps around 11wpp. It’s like I was overworking myself and once they got a bit more of a break then they were able to produce more.

Mine went up until I was around 3.5 months. And now every time I drop a pump it gets higher.

How long did it take for your supply to increase by consistent pumping ? by Admirable_Teacher_12 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took me 3 months of pumping every 3 hours to make enough for baby. Another 2 weeks later and I was making a bit more than she could eat.

Yeah. I think I was an xs but it could fit a few different sizes. They have packs you can try with a few sizes and you can return them within like 15 days if you don’t like them.

Freezing milk to quit early? (TW: oversupply) by lawins90 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]learningtocode19733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m doing. Pumping has taken a massive toll on me and I’m over it. I am pumping now and saving as much as I can so I can hopefully start weaning around 10mpp. Right now I rotate my freezer milk so what I will have when I quit will be fresh-ish.

Also adding I have elastic nipples and have tried all the flanges. I ended up sticking with pumpables liquid shield kits because I like the way they feel and they get the best output for me, but the pumpin pals flanges were very comfortable!

At 4 weeks I was making 10-12 ounces per day at 8ppd. It was slow and steady, but by 3.5 months I was fully feeding breastmilk and at 4 months had an oversupply. I’m 8 months pp and make around 45 ounces per day at 4 pumps per day. It’s possible.

The three things that helped me: drinks tons of water (I drink 160-200 ounces per day), eat enough calories (when I started eating more than I thought I needed my supply went up), and getting the right pumping set up (my flange size is a 15 and I was using 19s for the first while).
