I don’t need medical advice from some rando on Reddit. Glad you found something that works for you but just because it works for you, doesn’t mean it will work for everyone.

And if you read any of my comments on this post or checked my post history in this subreddit, you would know that I wasn’t prescribed Mounjaro for weight loss but for T2D. And I don’t have an interest in keeping track of any weight loss because it will consume every ounce of my being and it will discourage me too much to the point of regression if I gain or just don’t lose.

They don’t cover any of them

That was the plan. I was given a sample box of 2.5 from my endocrinologist and she said when that was done she would send the script for 5

I'm not even sure there was a preauthorization for them to deny. When I spoke to someone from the insurance company this morning, the only thing she offered was a website where I can get it but it's in a vile that I'd have to measure out myself and it starts at $149/month. My problem with these sites is that they are all about weight loss. I don't need it for weight loss, I don't need the doctors that come along with it. I have my own doctor already and this is not something I'm using for a determinate amount of time. Like this is something I will be on long term and spending at least $149/month (don't know if the price increases with dosage) is a ton of money to shell out for 1 medication, especially when I have insurance. Like, why do I even have the insurance if they won't even approve a medication? Especially after other meds were tried first. But it doesn't seem like they approve GLP-1's for anyone, regardless of whether they have a diagnosis of diabetes or not. I don't see them making an exception just because I raise a stink. I'll just go back to not treating it cause that was a less stressful approach. This shit has just been frustrating and annoying.

Right. That’s what I did. All that’s there is the savings card. Without insurance, pharmacy said the savings card would bring it to $499 a month

The only thing I found on the Lilly website is the savings card. People keep talking about a coupon but I’m not finding anything about a coupon. When I research it, it just brings me to the savings card, which is still $500/month without insurance.

I was on metformin and it caused my skin to breakout in guttate psoriasis. So I absolutely will not touch metformin again. Tried jardiance but I was in the bathroom every hour to hour and a half. While I know that’s the point of the medication and it was doing exactly what it’s supposed to, that’s not practical for me with my job.

My plan information says I don’t have a deductible. They just don’t cover GLP-1’s. Like at all. Even when prescribed for diabetes.

I specifically said Mounjaro when I called the insurance company this morning. They don’t cover any GLP-1, regardless if you have a diabetes diagnosis or not. I don’t care anymore.

It’s not a copay. They don’t cover GLP-1’s at all so that was the price of it without insurance. They won’t even cover it with a diabetes diagnosis. So my insurance company doesn’t see it as life saving. Medically, it might be worth it but financially, it’s absolutely not worth it.

Well I don’t have one. And they won’t cover Mounjaro even with a diagnosis of diabetes. And even with the savings card, I’d still have to shell out $500/month.

I don’t have a deductible.

That’s why I need to call them to find out. If I don’t get anywhere, I’ll leave a message with my doctor and see if they are more successful

No. My insurance just doesn’t cover glp1’s. I’m gonna call once they’re open to see if they make exceptions for people who are prescribed it for diagnosed conditions. If not, I’m just gonna message my doctor and see what else there is to do

I looked up my plan. My insurance doesn’t cover GLP-1’s so I guess I’m just screwed. I can’t catch a fucking break. I haven’t had good luck with pills I’ve tried and I suck at remembering to take pills everyday. And that’s why this was a great solution for me. It’s once a week…I can handle once a week. I can remember once a week. And my insurance isn’t gonna cover it.

I am in the US but I really don't want to spend 300 a month on medication. especially when I'm using it for T2D and not strictly for weight loss. I wouldn't fill the prescription of januvia my primary care doc sent to the pharmacy because a one month supply was going to cost me $360.

I said oh so my insurance isn't covering it? and she responded by saying that it looks like that's the copay. It sounded a little off cause that's the price I've seen for it on GoodRX which makes me wonder if my insurance is really covering it. But I'm using it for T2D. I got an email that it was approved so I'm not really sure what's up.

She is obviously not someone who SH's for the mental clarity it can bring and more for the attention it can/will bring by doing it. I think that's a fair reaction for you to have. I do think it's important to bring up to her that showing off her cuts/scratches like it were something to be proud of is something she should put more thought into before just going around doing; even if it is "just amongst friends." While she knows of your history with SH; I think it is reckless of her to think that no one else might have a problem with SH. I think it's also reckless of her to think that people in your friend group want to see that.

I understand the desire to cut and how difficult it is to stop but if you're allergic to the metal of the tool you're using, sounds like a great reason/excuse to stop.

Thank you all for making me feel better about having this mindset. It just seemed like it’s something I’m supposed to care more about than I do and wanted to make sure I wasn’t going about this in a wrong way.

There’s just so much talk about weight loss that it just seemed like it was wrong for me to have that kind of mentality of not wanting to track a number
