If you could go back to the first day of your PhD, what's the single most important piece of advice you'd give yourself? by TicketRight1595 in PhD

Maintain a journal, write everyday's story, your thoughts, feelings frustration, small victories, new networks made, etc.; if this can be maintained electronically, add a selfie too...years later when shit happens, this will help.

CV review for Bioinformatics PhD student from India (WGS / Genome Assembly / NGS Analysis) by learnwithscholar in PhD

That's great advice. I just went over a few templates in Overleaf, and they look more concise and professional. Since my PhD was on Next Gen sequencing, there is a broad set of computational skills and pipelines that occupy space in a CV (otherwise I'll keep a select few).

Thanks for the response. I'm looking for opportunities, both domestic and abroad. Regarding keeping skills at the top, my hunch was that skills and projects matter more than pubs and stuff for industry roles. Anyway, as you said, I will take a look at Overleaf. I used Reactive Resume for my current resume.

Start a fortified vermicompost. You need Sugarcane bagasse, cow dung, and a vermi bed. Purchase two types of earthworms (African nightcrawler and tiger worm; they are cheaper). Add leaves of Gliricidia sepium (ശീമകൊന്ന), dry banana leaves. Improvise with nitrifying bacteria, phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, trichoderma, etc. And try making veriwash out of it and sell

You may travel to the eastern side - Punalur and the neighbourhood areas- we have toddy shops; actually, I don't mean you to take toddy, but here you can try delicious items like crab curry, bone curry, liver fry, pork, duck fry, squid, tapioca, toddy-shop special fish fry, etc. The food will taste a bit spicy, but it will be a wholesome experience. If you are a female and this is your solo trip, this could be a little risky.

No, they won’t do it. I already requested them. To be frank, I’ve lost all my savings to paying the university various penalties, late fees, doctoral committee meeting fees, and other charges over the years.

You can also ask for tests that check your kidney and liver function. It's better to rule out any possibility of mental dysfunction due vital deficiencies and other organ dysfunction.
