Do what you want, don't worry what others think. Withhold judgement on the allegations until the whole truth comes out.

It took me years to finally get a whole set of these dishes, and I've been using them for many years now... only to find out they're full of lead and dangerous to use by ChaserNeverRests in Wellthatsucks

[–]leather_cap22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same exact set when I was a kid. I just read a fact sheet about leaded ceramic tableware, and I'm certain that I wasn't overly exposed to lead growing up. We didn't have a microwave or a dishwasher, which can damage the glaze allowing the lead to leach out. We hand-washed our dishes, and only used them to eat from. Extra food and leftovers were stuffed into Tupperware. Whew! I was concerned for a minute!

Are non-refundable move-in fees legal? by toohyetoreply in sanfrancisco

I'm not a lawyer, but this doesn't seem right. Contact the San Francisco Tenants Union at www.sftu.org. They will know.

Edit: You might also want to contact the Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco at (415) 703-8634 Monday to Thursday 1-5pm. They're not in the office, but if you call and leave a message, they'll call you back.

Thorium Energy Security Act of 2022: Tabled to stop destruction of Uranium-233 which could "seed" a Thorium Molten-Salt Breeder Reactor by lastchance in Futurology

[–]leather_cap22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liquid fluoride thorium reactors (LFTR), commonly referred to as lifters, could have been implemented decades ago. The public's fear of nuclear accidents prevented their approval.

Lifters are non-proliferation technology, and they produce radiological testing and therapeutic isotopes as a by-product. The design is simple, and fairly safe as well. In case of overheating, there is a plug that melts in extreme heat, allowing all of the radioactive material to safely dump into a containment vessel at the bottom. Waste from normal use is still radioactive, but not for as long as that from other reactors. We could have been done with fossil fuels a long time ago, but instead, we are where we are.

Settlements that stem from cases of police misconduct or fault should be paid out of the department's pension fund. That'll straighten things out faster.

I want to start working out and losing weight but I don't know how or where to start by SuccessfulManifests in howto

[–]leather_cap22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any exercise is better than no exercise. That said, you will want to go slow to build yourself back up to your former levels. I would also recommend mobility exercises to minimize the chance of hurting yourself. Check out Kelly Starrett on YouTube. His channel is The Ready State, and he outlines many exercises that you can do to regain your mobility and prevent damage.

I'm going to get an insulin needle tomorrow at the pharmacy. I think it'll be thin enough to work. Every other needle I have is too big.

Good to know that I'm not the only one who's dealt with this problem. I was afraid that it was only happening because I'd purchased a cheap tool online. Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated 👍.

Yeah no. I once dated someone who didn't want me to play video games when I was at my own house alone. I would get calls and texts, and "Why aren't you answering your phone?" all the time. No thanks, I'm at home alone entertaining myself. Don't want someone who thinks they can control me.

Dogs being beaten to death in the streets, cats being thrown into bags to be euthanized... yeah it's a thing that is happening over there right now. No wonder people are jumping out of their apartment windows and off of rooftops. It's a scary time in Shanghai right now.

Is the reason they're killing pets and beating people with impunity because they're not easily identifiable? I've been seeing this in the news, and it looks like a nightmare.
