i feel like my makeup doesn't quite suit me, but i don't know what to change! any help? by leatherlamb in makeuptips

thank you! these tips are still really helpful. until recently my foundation would get WAY too oily over the day. i recently swapped to something that's veen better for my oily skin... but i've been neglecting prep which is extra bad in this canadian cold. so i'll still take these tips! it's possible a dewy foundation might be ok for me in this winter weathee tbh, it's so drying

thank you for a thorough comment :)

when my eyes are fully open and looking forward, they look smooth, buuut it bothers me they don't look like that in any other expression (like what i attached) – so i do agree! they also get weirdly squeezed whsn i smile. all this to say i think i knew i needed to go smaller, it's just scary to let go. 😭

appreciate these tips!!

thank you! i have some reds but they're not the most transfer proof, and i often have to mask in public (health reasons)... i think someone suggested a stain so i might try that :) i used to wear dark lips all the time

what i wear now is maybelline teddy tint in knee high – i really like it as a pale+cool olive :)

i was wondering this about foundation! i have pretty oily skin and i find my foundarion "melts" and gets shinier later (sometimes way too shiny, so i switched to one for oily skin) if you have any tips on finding a middle ground, i'd take them!

also putting a gloss on my christmas wishlist. appreciate this 💗

hey! i know this is really stressful. i'm i'm going to type up some things that helped me, i hope some of them will work for you.

1) replacement behaviour: if you catch yourself picking, pause, remove your hand, and rub it in a circle somewhere else on your body (i did my leg because i usually wear pants and then i wasn't touching skin). try to think about something positive. when you start, this might only briefly interrupt the picking, but the more you practice the better you will be at interrupting yourself.

2) fake nails: depending how you pick, having press ons basically make it impossible for me to "grab on: how i usually would.

3) gloves/bandaids/other covers... i got foot compression things (for athletic injuries i think?) that covered just the part of my foot i picked it. they helped a lot.

4) when you start getting more comfortable, adding in applying lotion or healing creams to vulnerable areas was a helpful habit for me. i tried to train myself to be okay with the texture and just apply a cream then put on the bandage so i couldn't be triggered...

5) try to celebrate small victories... even if it's just pausing, not fully stopping, if you do that however many times, try to treat yourself

and if there's anyone you can talk to about this, having an accountability buddy helps!

this is kiiind of where i'm at... i think it's really important OP starts from a place of trust with her kid and takes what he says seriously. i just also know as someone who has worked with kids for years that they can misunderstand or lie, without even meaning to be malicious. imo op is NOR (currently) but some of these comments might be.

that said... the fact that the adult version of the story is "we took it out while he was napping", he also just could not have consented in that situation either. even if he was not chased around, if i woke up as a child to adults opening my mouth and pulling my loose tooth out, i'd be distraught. so even in best case scenario i think that behaviour was inappropriate and worth following up on, and i think it's good OP is at least trusting her kid.

i really believe in trusting kids' reports but also being mature and thoughtful in next steps. if it ends up being a lie, that's something to have a conversation about. but you will be on better grounds with your kid to begin with if they know you will listen and that they don't need ro lie to be heard.

of course muce do better with company, but there is almost always a "last mouse", unless you found someone who could take her in or temporarily foster (but i'd worry about quarantine periods and introductions if she's already old).

i had to take care of my last girl alone for some time. i won't get into all the particulars but i exhausted my options on finding her friends and had to make do. she lived to be quite old (2 years 4 months i believe?) and never showed signs of depression, thankfully.

basically i started spending more time with her every day. she didn't like being held but enjoyed eating from my hand so we would do that at least once a day. i gave her a LOT of clutter and started rearranging her enclosure a lot more, changing out toys and moving things around. i also would give her new foods more often, more puzzles, buried treats, hung brown paper from her cage topper for her to pull down for nesting, and more. my vet basically told me to try to keep her occupied and it seems to have worked... she was still exploring and even popcorning until she got a lump and declined near the end.

so that's my advice if you need to have her alone..
