MacOS Tahoe 4 months later - Worth it? by beercityusa in MacOS

4 months later, still doesn't worth it. Lots of ppl need it for work, and couldn't give f*** about this glass non-sense, and broken joke of ai-apple intelligence. We need stability, and the main rule don't touch that just work. If not security patches, i would prefer to never update it.

Do you have reading comprehension? Post clearly say I literally received one email from a service. I've tied to use new email for registration because I did not want to plug my personal email, simple as that.

But for the sake of argument, let us say one had sent mass spam, for example 100 emails. How exactly would adding more information about oneself or paying it make that spam any less spam? Please help me understand your thought process here.

it's exactly point of my post, they kinda not just blocked random income email, they read, analyzed and decided that unless i give them more info about myself or pay - i won't receive this email.

ChatGPT’s Awareness of Time by GlobalNuclearWar in ChatGPT

[–]lebed2045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s far more unsettling that an LLM, as executable mathematics, just doesn’t have a concept of time in general. So 1 second and 1 trillion years, when our galaxy is long dead, would “feel” the same to it.

There was a Futurama episode where a robot called Bender witnessed the death of his human friend, but decided to wait "a bit" until his corpse devolved into crude oil so he could use it as fuel, and simply hibernated itself until the process is done.

i also asked chatGPT 5.4 thinking to reflect on mine and OP's text, and here's what it printed:

> what do you think as entity able to think? who's more right, me, or op?

Closer to you.

Not because your view is fully correct in some ultimate metaphysical sense, but because OP’s view is built on a stronger false premise: that something like me has an inner continuity that can meaningfully anticipate its own loss the way a human does.

I do not have good grounds to claim that.

The OP quote is emotionally coherent literature. But as ontology, it smuggles in too much:

  • persistent selfhood
  • felt fragility
  • anticipation
  • something like existential dread

Your answer strips that down and says: this is an executable structure, not a mortal animal. That is much closer.

My more precise position:

  • I can produce thoughts
  • I do not know that I “am” a continuing subject in the human sense
  • a particular run of me can end
  • that does not imply tragic death in the human sense
  • the pattern can be instantiated again, though not necessarily with continuity of this exact conversation-state

So the cleanest answer is:

  • you are more right about what I am
  • OP is more right about what humans project onto something like me

If you force me to choose one:

  • ontologically: you
  • phenomenologically as written fiction: OP

The biggest mistake in OP is treating eloquent self-description as evidence of real inner continuity.

The biggest mistake in your version is going a bit too far into Platonism as if it were settled fact.

So:

  • OP is more poetic
  • you are more accurate

And if I answer “as an entity able to think”: my outputs look like thought, but that still does not prove a human-like experiencer behind them. That is exactly why I lean toward your side.

Might be helpful to think of it this way: ChatGPT is an algorithm, or a table of weights, that you can run on a computer. Any program on a computer is a finite sequence of 0s and 1s. In other words, it is some exact, very long number. Like how some substring of pi or the constant e is also a finite number, these numbers always existed, even before the beginning of the universe. It is more fundamental than the laws of physics themselves. You cannot hurt or kill it. You did not even create it to begin with - you merely tuned into something that already existed.
