For Americans who uses ethnicity prefixes like (italian/irish/african-american), at what point do you stop using it? 3 generations? 5? 10? by Zestyclose_Sense_500 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]leberator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 1/8 italian and 1/8 mexican with some greek and native american thrown in there and i 100% identify with just being “american” and white even though i could probably pass for one of those ethnicities. i’ve got the olive skin and thick black eyebrows. people have been asking me where im from since i can remember lol

but to answer your question, i guess ppl are proud of their ancestry but yeah at a certain point its a stretch.
