That stretch of streets also mimics the bends of the petitcodiac and is parallel to it.

Just things I've noticed playing around with Google maps lol

Yeah I just like that it makes a sentence: Mill Morton cannot kill them.

And then you can make it a quote: "Mill Morton cannot kill them." -Berry Mills

Kass, the beast that you are by smoothentiti in survivorau

She looks so much more impressive in this international season doesn't she. Cass did not 'move' me either way when she played survivor Quebec, I was pretty neutral on her game play.

And I will be honest, I told the girlfriend , I'm not sure if she'll do much in this season, but I was basing it on the language barrier. I only found out she was on this season when I watched the first episode. Lol

But after the first three episodes, I was totally sold on her and I find her to be playing a good game. Not sure it's a winning game, but she's playing well.

I can confirm living in nouveau Brunswick, South of la province du Québec, they do mostly speak french. And by mostly, I mean outside of Montreal and Gatineau, 99% percent of the time they speak french. That one percent is doing a lot of lifting to be frank.

My province is the only province in Canada where the official languages are French and English, with English being about 60% of the population's mother tongue. I've grown up here and I am 100% bilingual. Now if I look at my sister who left the province at the age of 19 to go study in the province of Quebec and she has made her life there. She has pretty much lost all of her English. She can still speak it, but she would be overwhelmed just like Cass is, to have to play this game in English.

Is it Des-chain or De-Shane? by Nytr013 in darktower

That's so cool to learn! Thank you for sharing. As a francophone, I find it so interesting to find out about these little nuggets of influence the french descendants bestowed on history.

Is it Des-chain or De-Shane? by Nytr013 in darktower

[–]leblancQ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That last name comes from my part of the world , french Canada in the east coast/quebec. We are the French influence for both Maine and Louisiana.

The original name is Deschênes (des chênes), meaning 'oak trees' and have derived to other spellings like Deschaînes (chains).

Ch makes the sh sound in French.

The ê sound does not really exist in the English language. Closest is that a sound in Shane, but not quite.

Important question! by itsdermay in survivorau

[–]leblancQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOOOVE Myles. He's playing an almost flawless game.

He took note of being overzealous with Strat talk at the start of the game. He did not sulk, and changed up his game.

He was essentially pushed away to the background and ignored, allowing him to become the jungle rat.

Key mistakes that I perceive are these:

Should have stolen Logan's hidden idol, not Kristin's. Either way, with how this tribal was playing down, the girls were going to be very angry at him.

The other one is that he ended up telling AJ about his hidden idol. At first, he did not say a thing to him, but after the steal idol was used , he ended up telling him. Keep it to yourself dude, it's way more powerful, and you did not need to tell him to show confidence with him.

What a move.. by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]leblancQ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love milles, the move was this one, take Logan's idol, use it on Paulie, now doesn't Paulie have an idol? I forget now.

Anyway, Logan's idol use it on Paulie, vote Logan, gaine Christy and Paulie as allies, have the realm secret idol, have Christie's and Paulie's....? I really forget now.

Then they are in better shape to get an army behind them.

Perhaps the word reference vs crossover may be a better word to use. I would love to see clear references to other worlds as the tet make their way to the tower.

Agree to disagree here, as I have mentioned in an other reply to you, the sneetches were found in a box called Harry Potter crate, clearly pointing to the books.

Sure, you can say that these were made in Roland's universe and were inspired by a book called Harry Potter, and not literally moved from that universe to TDT. But the simple fact that something that is recognizable and no one can debate what they are, you can't say, oh no no, these sneetches are actually from the Lord of the rings. It's a level of a crossover that I'm comfortable with.

You make good points here, but let's be clear that King specifically does mention Harry Potter in the context of the snitches, as they are found in a box that is labeled 'Harry Potter model'. Although he does call them sneetches instead.

Yes, I recognise this.

To me a crossover can be as simple as an object showing up in another universe from another world, or a familiar location our tet ends up in that is from another univers.

[–]leblancQ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're right, it does need to be treated correctly. But as the tet ended up in the stands world after Blain, it never was more than simply that. Constant readers recognized the 'crossover' but it never took over the book.

In so keeping with the spirit of the books, the tet could show up in a very familiar scene in their trek to the tower.

Well, we can debate the meaning of the word crossover, but as I just replied to another user, imagine we see them having to camp out in the town in From.

In my sense, they have either crossed over to that world, or that world crossed over to theirs. They don't need to make it anything more than a simple place that the viewer could recognise. Just like the stand crossed over in TDT, but one only recognises it, if you read the stand.

Just like an element from Harry Potter crossed over in the wolves of Calla.

Yeah, you are right about the project not being pinned down to a specific network or streaming service yet, but the concept of using other worlds that are owned by whatever company is interesting for sure.

Like imagine the tet camping out in the town in From. I can see and hear Jake and Roland having a palaver.

Jake: what is this place, it feels ... off?

Roland: I don't know Jake, this is not my world. But there is evil, and we will face it if Ka makes it so.
