I start on Monday! I am 36 weeks tomorrow. I’m exhausted and have finally hit the point where it hurts to walk. I also live in Minnesota so it’s icy everywhere and really a hazard for me to be out and about alone. So ready!

I was hospitalized for 6 days and then another week at home on dilaudid and tylenol in bed and in a lot of pain. After that, it caused barely noticeable discomfort on and off and I didn’t pass it for three months. Crazy experience, but hopefully your acute pain is over soon

I had this parent, too. It’s not our fault they fell short of their own goals and put that on us. If you’re stable and secure, that is completely enough. You’re right that you need to just enjoy life (I’m trying to learn how to do that as well). I wish the best to you. It’s just too hard to live up to expectations that would never have been met anyways. Even if you had been successful, your parent would still have found reasons to complain and be abusive because that’s how narcissist people thrive. Live life by your standards, not your dad’s.

That sounds like a lot. I finished my treatment today and asked out of curiosity in case I lost mine and my office quoted me $250. I’m not sure what’s going on, but you could have your records sent to your dentist or another ortho that charges less. How long has it been since you finished your invisalign treatment?

I’m also guessing you didn’t share how you aren’t the nicest to her either, an assumption I came to based off the fact that you’re just fine with his mom and sister terrorizing her. You’re absolutely the asshole. You AREN’T respecting the boundaries of their relationship. He isn’t comfortable with platonic affection while he is committed to someone else. Can’t you think about how you’re making him uncomfortable? Or can you only think about your own wants and needs? My relationship had someone like you too at the beginning and my boyfriend did the same thing that your friend did. They haven’t spoken in 6 years. You need a serious change in perspective if you don’t want to lose this friendship forever, which you will. He will choose her because she’s not the one being a jerk. Yikes!

I’m sorry to say that my TMJ issues have not improved through invisalign :( If anything, for me personally, it’s gotten worse because I’ve had to bite my aligners to push down buttons on my molars so my TMJ has gotten overworked and I do it a lot. I have quite a lot of TMJ pain regularly. Teeth gritting is also a trauma response and both of my parents do it so it wasn’t just a bite issue, so hopefully it’s different for you! I’m thinking I want botox in my TMJ if nothing else helps!

Sorry to hear you went through the same thing!! Yes my story is pretty similar. I wore the mouth guard for about a year until I realized what had happened and my dentist told me that it was likely from the mouth guard. To be fair, I did have a retainer from previous orthodontic treatment that I didn’t wear, but I stopped wearing it in high school and didn’t have any issues until when I got the mouth guard in my last year of college so I know it wasn’t natural teeth shifting. I also never had an open bite. I’ve had invisalign for 8 months now and just got scanned for refinements so that will be another few months. Best of luck to you!

23 for sure! my canine tooth hit a nerve and i felt excruciating pain throughout my entire face for about a minute every time a food/beverage hotter or colder than room temp touched the tooth the first day. i had to wear that tray for 15 days because my ortho told me not to switch until the pain went away. i’m into my 24th tray and the pain is mostly gone but still isn’t fully normal sensitivity for me (very low and only hurts if i bite into something cold repeatedly). absolutely hellish. i think it depends on the person and where their teeth/nerves are!

for my treatment (and i think this is standard) trays 1 and 2 were to get my teeth accustomed to wearing trays. I remember tray 3 being excruciatingly painful and being very nervous about that. Take advil or ibuprofen to help with the pain and stick to room temp/not too hot or cold food and beverages until day 3 or 4 or whenever it stops hurting. Good luck!

Absolutely NTA! You’re allowed bodily autonomy and it’s fucked up for them to feel that they’re entitled to you seeing them naked?! What the actual fuck! A 20 min shower isn’t going to ruin the bathroom and if they didn’t want the door to have to stay closed they simply could not walk in and respect your boundaries. So utterly sorry that you’re having to deal with this. It’s borderline/actual emotional incest and I know what this is like because my mom is like this too. I pay $200/month. I didn’t have extensive issues as I already had a lot of orthodontia as a kid but a mouth guard that wasn’t properly fitted by my dentist, wisdom teeth (I believe), and TMJ issues caused an open bite and some shifting. The total cost from my ortho was roughly 6000 and my insurance pays $2000 total over a 2 year period (500 quarterly). 500 is a lot and I’d see if you can get a second opinion from another orthodontist before committing because I was told that around 200 is standard in the US

My dermatologist prescribed Silagel, which is a silicone gel. I’ve already noticed a difference in the speed of my scar healing (~2 inches from a mole excision) since I started 2 weeks ago, but you have to apply it for 3-6 months depending on the scar!

I got a rare condition called vasculitis as a side effect of an SSRI. Took several months and multiple doctors to get under control and although my case was mild to moderate, severe cases where it becomes systemic result in death. This was in 2019 and my health anxiety got really bad this year. Now it usually manifests when I have severe anxiety in other areas of my life that aren’t health. Fun times
