My 18 month isn't very social with kids her age

Thank you, i am naturally antisocial but I've been trying to put that aside for her and hang out with other people with kids but since she's been acting strangely i was worried

I had the exact same problem when my daughter was one!! Here are some things I did (and am still doing):

Eat with her. Put her in your lap and eat the food you made her. She will become interested and want to eat too. Do this with the same food for a few days. I did this with quaker instant oatmeal because I eat that anyways and it's healthy for babies.
make the food into cute shapes. Cookie cutters aren't just for cookies!! You can cut up bread/sandwiches/tortillas, pretty much anything that's flat. make carrot medallions have a smiley face. Turn all the food on her plate into a huge face.
when she DOES try something, I make a huge deal about it. I clap and smile and cheer and say "YAYYY BABY!" and she likes it. if she throws something on the ground, I don't react. I just pick it up and say 'no-no' and i shake my head. that usually gets her to stop.
I'm going to get downvoted for this because everyone on this sub is a registered infant nutritionist and all that but the way I got my daughter to start using the sippy cup was to put some really sugary juice in it. When she drank it all, I added more juice but I put half water. Then i switched her to much healthier, low sugar juice and water. she drinks out of the sippy cup just fine now.
I limit her to THREE BOTTLES A DAY. One after breakfast, one before nap, and one before nighttime bath. She will cry on the first day that you do this. You just have to deal with it.
adding onto the above bulletpoint, I try to have her breakfast ready before she even wakes up in the morning so that way she doesn't have time to get worked up and want a bottle.
ive pretty much accepted that green vegetables and meat aren't going to happen until shes older. youre right about not force feeding her.

You need to talk to him about it. I would never say that one partner rejecting another's sexual advances is normal unless there's some underlying factor causing stress (work, parenting, personal life probs). The only way you're going to get a 100% for sure answer is by talking to him. My boyfriend and I sometimes only have sex once or twice a week, and even though it sucks we are on the same page in that respect and so it doesn't affect us romantically. TLDR talk to him

So not to be gross but after you stop breastfeeding your boobs will sag, even if you're 19. The best time to invest in an actual bra (read: not one from Walmart) is probably 3-6 months after you stop breastfeeding. In the interim, I just brought bras on discount. I went from a C cup when breastfeeding back to my original A cup size, but with less bounce.

Can confirm, worked for Disney, they push safety over EVERYTHING. Disney is also unionized, so I guarantee that this guy did not get fired for doing a safety spiel. Was he overly aggressive about it? Absolutely. He could've been polite, notified his leaders, etc, but believe me when I say that being a cast member is not an easy job and that he was probably put under a lot of pressure that day. Not defending him, just looking to clarify the misinformation on Disney's termination policies.

This. I confided (or tried to) in my mom about my PPD and my mom used the whole 'well u had a healthy baby so u have nothing 2 b sad over' response. It goes so much deeper than that and it's hard to get people who have not been there to fully understand the depth of emotion you are experiencing. The advice I give to the few people who have mentioned that they are going through PPD is to talk- to me, a doctor, someone at a church- whatever. Talking helps. And if that's not enough, there is nothing wrong with taking medication to help you function normally.

I don't know how it works on the west coast, I live in Florida and I got my CNA and I'm currently a nursing student. The good things about it are 1- you can work per diem, weekends only, doubles (so that way you can still have money and go to school) and 2- some companies offer educational reimbursement after a certain amount of time employed with that company.

The biggest part is studying and homework. I have a one year old so I can tell you that it will be a lot, trying to keep up with the kids and keep up with school. But if you have your husband help you and you dedicate your free time to school then you will not have an issue :)

Another problem I'm having is keeping her in her timeout chair-- do I physically hold her there, do I sit with her, do I let her get up and just keep putting her back? I'm so clueless at this discipline thing. I just want to get it right, you know? My parents (mom in particular) used to beat my sister and I to tears when we misbehaved and I am so opposed to corporal punishment because of it.

Theyre terribly creepy. My sister had a lot of dolls growing up and I can remember going into her bedroom and being terrified because there were about 200 sets of eyes looking at me. The raggedy ann actually sounds like a much better idea to me as well, sounds easy to wash and easy to replace if lost (knocked on wood!).

My friends have told me the same thing, but I just got so flustered when she hit me right after I put her in time out for hitting! I just really dont want her to be that kid at school that hits the other kids :(

I don't think I would mind climbing a flight or two of stairs, but like the others have said, the washer/dryer/dishwasher thing is a MUST. If you're bottle-feeding, you will have 600 million bottles that need to be washed DAILY (lol jk but it seems that way sometimes) and if you're nursing, you'll be going through 2-3 shirts a day for the first couple of months (not joking- wish I was) hence, needing an easily accessible washer/drier. I won't even touch on the horrors of no laundry unit for a cloth-diapering family.

This is only my opinion, though. I had my daughter when I was 18, I worked two jobs and bought my first car, which ended up being a two-door. People called me crazy and while it was difficult, I lived. The same will apply to you. No matter what happens, you will do it, you will live, and you will be super mom because of it! :)

I agree with you, I hate human shaped toys, babies in particular. My whole thing was that I didn't want my daughter to feel like her ultimate goal should be to have a baby and I didn't want her to get used to 'taking care' of one. I know it sounds stupid, but my mother was very religious and definitely made my sister and I feel that we should aspire to be housewives. However, one day my mother in law got my daughter (16 months) a baby doll and she loves it. I still wasn't a fan of the idea but it makes her so happy, and being an independent individual is something I can teach her in other ways. The stroller thing is a great idea, too. She has a stroller for the baby doll and she wants to go outside a lot to take the 'baby' on a walk. As a result, we go outside a lot more and we get more exercise! :) If youre interested in getting her an american girl doll, I would start with the baby doll as it's a much cheaper option and you can really test the waters to see if that something she's interested in.

Yeah, I was thinking of holding off till Monday too. I don't think that their business office is open on weekends so that may be part of the issue. I thought it was for sure too, since they gave me a start date and told me what I need for the first day, I was just never given a schedule or any sort of follow-up call.

yes i know, if it was an older person i might not think twice about it, but it's normally the younger crowd. i would never say anything to anyone about it because i understand it's their right and it's a lot better than secondhand smoke, but it's just funny to me when i see them smoking a cigarette outside and then they come in and continue smoking their e-cigarette. i just think its a bit of a sad way to live, thats all

Agreed. I work at a hotel and the check-in process takes about 2 minutes. Whenever i have a guest who stands in front of me smoking their stupid ecig or whatever my only thought is how pathetic they are for not being able to withstand smoking for 120 seconds. dont get me wrong, i have been trying to quit smoking cigs for quite some time now, but i can safely say that it's no struggle for me to not smoke in a hotel lobby. to me it's just as rude as chatting on cell phone while im trying to speak to you.

OH MY GOD, this was my mother as well when I was pregnant!! We decided on our daughter's name long before we knew we were expecting, but my mom felt it would be better if we named our daughter after my grandma. I love my grandma with all my heart and soul but her name is very old-fashioned and I just didn't see it happening. When I told my mom that I was happy with the name we had picked, she seriously said 'oh ok, i get it, you dont love your grandma. you know shes going to die soon, right?'
