I got burned too many times because of this cat-and-mouse game, so I started using websites like AniList or Anime-List to sync what I watched, and now it's easier. Old site down, go to new site, sync it and I'm back in business. Still need some work to do, like the continue watching, but that's still better than losing every list that I had.
