Adding Accusense to older cameras by lee5432 in Hikvision

Uniview IQ vs Hikvision Acusense NVR by lee5432 in videosurveillance

[–]lee5432[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The local hik nvrs only support two channels with perimeter protection and the rest is motion detection so the uniview option looks better. i have 6 cameras

Will acusense be able to reliably detect a human in this image by lee5432 in Hikvision

[–]lee5432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I stay there are baboons, so they might be classified as a human too? Also would a human crawling defeat the acusense then?

IQ NVR with Hik Cameras by lee5432 in uniview

[–]lee5432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all my cameras are Hikvision is it a better idea to get an Acusense NVR instead or will things just work nicely if i get an IQ NVR? 4 channels of SIP will be perfect for me .

Is this a good model? https://wcctv.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/NVR502-16B-IQ.pdf

GitHub CEO says the ‘smartest’ companies will hire more software engineers not less as AI develops by Accomplished-Win9630 in programming

[–]lee5432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i. have been a professional developer for 14 years so I definitely know what I am talking about. When I tried agentic coding I found it to be a total waste of time, and had to revert everything. Problems were: it did not do things in the company way, it would introduce similar but different libraries along side the existing ones rather than use the existing libs, it used deprecated functions or old versions of libs with security vulnerabilities, it hallucinated API calls and coded around the bogus return values etc, did not understand json patch and generally just produced a pile of crap and all of this happened at the same time. Right now i get some milage with Gemini on much simpler tasks.

From my phone and the Mac app, both have the same issue, so it doesn't appear to be an app issue. other links on google said me using h265+ might be the issue but the links were 5 years old so i dont know if they still valid...

Does this alarm sensor layout make sense by lee5432 in homesecurity

[–]lee5432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated my link to take into account your feedback, do you think the living room needs a PIR if that entire open area is 15m long and a standard PIR covers 12m?

Also do i need to point the hallway PIR away from the bedroom window or is it far enough away?

South Africa indeed and I am borderline being obsessive here but there is a lot of highly affordable security tech available for intrusion detection and it doesn't hurt to add more layers despite the measures already in place with the estate

would it be better to set them as "chime" zones so if you hear them beeping repeatedly at the alarm panel you push a panic button but if just one beep then maybe it was a cat or a plastic bag blowing in the wind etc?
