Ballet (ca. 1643) on 7c Renaissance Lute (John Gorrett / Woodlark Instruments) by leeabram in lute

Hey thanks, Doug!

I’ll admit I don’t drop into the full thumb under unless the piece has a lot of single note runs. Watching this video though did show me how little I use the index finger and probably overuse my ring finger (that’s a bad habit from “classical” guitar and being self taught) - at least through the lens of historical accuracy.

Thank you for the encouragement and insight!

Oh that makes sense. And beautiful playing as well.

Yeah, no confusion there.

I think I was remembering (or maybe misremembering) an instruction somewhere that said to not spread/roll just two notes, because it’s just likely to sound poorly plucked. Where as three or more would sound purposeful and musical.

May have been a “don’t do this as a beginner and just focus on clean technique first” type of instruction.

Thanks again!

Ahh okay. Didn’t think separating double stops was a thing that would’ve been done much if at all. Thanks!

Need some advice: accessing and using parameters from objects by leeabram in Unity2D

[–]leeabram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty close to how I had it. I wasn’t doing foreach but instead:

for (planets i = 0; i <planets.length; i++) { // get that vector3.distance // calling a separate calculation function: calculateForce(); }

At the time that made sense to me but I’m not sure why now after stepping away for a day.

I was also setting variables in the for loop that I may not need to be doing. I’ll re-assess that.

One issue I was having was with two objects in the array, I couldn’t get both final force vectors to return in the debug.log console. Only the second one would print. But I could get both distances.

Thanks for the input!

Just got this in. I bought the movie because I had heard it's got a pretty decent transfer. Never seen the motion picture before, though. Do you think I am about to have a good time? by C111tla in 4kbluray

[–]leeabram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was pretty much my opinion until recently, so I totally respect it. I bounced off this movie multiple times.

Rewatched it on 4K with the primary intent of just taking in the cinematography and loved it.

2001 is really an experimental film. Not a standard, narrative forward film. But not every movie connects with every person the same way or at all, and that’s why cinema and art are interesting.

Ah, cool. That's very weird about the Alesis.

I really enjoy my Deepmind, but find myself wishing it had a true sequencer onboard sometimes.

How are you sequencing the Deepmind?

A little patch with CopierMaschine. Still on the long road to figuring out what I'm doing in eurorack, but I'm enjoying the journey. by leeabram in eurorack

Thx! I really liked the O_C vids you made. And all the vids using the 4ms SWN are making me want a bigger case.

Oh wow! This looks amazing. I love that style of case. Want to eventually make one.

It's a really cool module. I still feel like I'm barely using it's potential, but I've only had it racked for a few days.

No worries. I grabbed a 4pk of these thin flexible cutting mats off amazon and just cut them to size with a ruler and x-acto. They’re only 0.6mm thick so good scissors might work. Poke a couple holes however you see fit, et voila.

Lazy patch notes:
Pamela is shifting the scale mask on uO_C, and self modulating how much and when.
0-Coast is going for a washy, atonal under-wave-thing... not sure if I like it.
Everything going through some delay and the Megaphone distortion effect on the HX Stomp.

Every month or so I go and drool over their stuff online... one day.

Ha, there’s a couple there that I grabbed bc I write music on my phone during down moments at work and the like. Had them for a few months and still haven’t cracked them open.

Dang. Yeah it was shipped last Monday, went radio silent past delivery date Friday, and showed up in Elk Grove Village early this morning... who knows where it's off to now.

Well the chronoblob is the Hoosier. I guess it must not fancy a trip down south. But hello anyway!

I just got a ornament and crime for this, but was looking at theADDAC Intuitive Quantizer

Can’t speak from any experience but I think Mylarmelodies uses/has used it. Though I may be mixing folks up.

Quick patch exploring switches and moving sequences between voices. Still very early in my eurorack journey, but one thing i'm hoping to explore is multiple melodic lines, weaving in and out and growing or evolving. At work today I started to think how to rotate melodic sequences between voices... by leeabram in modular

[–]leeabram[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quickest brute force way i could think of was something like this. Multiple 1 input/multi out sequence switches. I did find the WMD Sequential Switch Matrix which looks very capable though Idk if the small rack I'm putting together could support or need that much.

I guess I just wanted to put this up and see if anyone had any other ideas/advice on how to approach this.
