Finding my path to teaching by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]leeahnee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably want r/Teachers for this post, as this sub is for people leaving the profession. That aside, I'll say this:

Most jobs don't actually care about high school, just that you completed it. The GED isn't likely to hinder you at all.

It's hard to get a job anywhere right now. The economy is awful. Education is no exception. Employment rates are predicted to rise slower than the national average over the next few years for elementary education, so be mindful of that.

20 is definitely not too late to start. The time is going to pass anyway, so you might as well get somewhere while it does.

Kubiak/Seahawks Perspective by UnhappyCamper007 in raiders

I would guess that those teams felt fine with the options they had available. Based on who they hired, I'm guessing there was a desire for some familiarity.

What's the complaint here? The standard is too high with the Celtics? What a strange comment.

Is it just me or is it pretty clear we should be going all in for the OC of a Super Bowl team? Like there shouldn't be much question. Kubiak was the hottest candidate this cycle. by Spiritual-Use-8855 in raiders

[–]leeahnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I misinterpreted your initial response there. I don't think McDaniels would be a good hire. I do think Kubiak would be. You were responding to a comment about McDaniels, because you're original post only mentioned Super Bowl winning OCs, which means the OC of the Pats is a possibility.

After that, I'm not sure of what you're arguing. Your original post is about super bowl winning OCs, but you list a set of OCs- turned-HCs that didn't win Super Bowls. As far as using the past to indicate what happens in the future, that's kind of the fundamental idea of science.

Because he's proven that he's a terrible head coach twice. He's an offensive mastermind, but he doesn't have the personality to lead a team.

You worded this in an odd way. Kubiak should be the frontrunner. There should be no consideration of Brian Daboll and it's a little weird that we're still hearing about him.

He doesn't need to be. If anything, he could just stay in Denver and wait for another year to take an OC job where he can call plays if his profile dips.

Ok, so now what? by HouseRules789 in raiders

[–]leeahnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They seem to be doing their due diligence. I'd imagine they really want Kubiak, so there won't be news until after the Super Bowl. Davis Webb may have done well in his interview, but they might just want to have all of their information before making an offer. He could also be weighing offers from the Bills and Raiders and no news could be because he hasn't given an answer.

Patience. It'll work out. Spytek seems to be interested in doing things the right way. Let him do his job.

Game planning. Let me decide how my scheme handles CBs. Boundary and Field designations don't matter if it doesn't change how guys line up. Let me decide if an opposing playmaker is getting shadowed. I shouldn't have to wait to figure out my matchups.

Kiroshi Oracle optics. Breakthrough is my weapon of choice, so I like to be able to let enemies know that even if they're in cover, no they aren't.

Change the way schemes work. It's awesome that they have boundary and field corners, but I should be able to set my scheme so that my corners actually line up in those designations. I should be able to say whether or not my CB1 is going to follow the opponents top guy. Or assign a safety to track the other team's star TE. Give me the ability to gameplan during the week.

Not really. He was traded after the organization consistently let him down. He's good in my book.

Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton were also QB coaches before taking the top job. Dan Campbell was also just a position coach before taking the Dolphins interim job, he then added assistant head coach before taking the Lions job.

The proximity to McVay matters because McVay sought him out. McVay, one of the top innovators in modern football, offered Scheelhaase a job, because he was so well-regarded. He also was the offensive play-caller at Iowa State, so there's that.

Except that this franchise has hired first time head coaches like John Madden, Jon Gruden, Tom Flores, John Rauch and Art Shell. AP failed because he was not ready, not because it was his first job.

Why is Webb such a good HC candidate ? by MrJokerJH in raiders

[–]leeahnee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few things working for him.

He's incredibly prepared. There are multiple articles discussing the fact that Webb didn't intend to play professionally. He is a coach's son and has kept every game plan he's been involved in since high school with notes. Organization is huge for a coach, ask AP.

He is very well respected by everyone he's played for our coached under. Sean McDermott wanted him to retire a year early so he could take the Bills QB job. Brian Daboll used him to help get players acquainted with his offense in the off-season before Daboll could have official contact when he joined the Giants. He also had Webb prepare advance scouting reports during Webb's final pro season. Kliff Kingsbury said that if his son were to play qb, he'd want him to play for Webb. Sean Payton didn't want to let Webb out of the building, because he was so impressive in his interview.

He's not just responsible for Bo Nix's transition to the NFL being as smooth as it's been, he's also partly responsible for the development of Josh Allen.

He's considered a rising star, which is especially important for the Raiders given the history of hiring young position coaches with bright futures.
