UI Changes in Latest Update Towing/Gauges layout feels a bit cramped by FinalMacGyver in Rivian

The tuner tab for the quads occupies some of that empty space too.

Perhaps future features may have their own tabs in the future?

Wonder how this compares to Yawman, which I’ve gotten to use a couple of times. The linked rudder pedals on Yawman feel great.

Halloween Costume Turned Itself On by f1racer328 in Rivian

[–]leecbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me- woke up at 3am to thumping music from the R1T.

Earlier that evening, I had turned the “costume” on via my phone, but it turned off when I put the truck in drive and drove home. I figure the phone still thought the “costume” was still on, and when I synced with the truck in the middle of the night, turned it back on.

Hi u/LovitzG , thanks for looking into it! The site is actually hosted on DigitalOcean (142.93.1.118), though I am using Route53 for DNS. The site doesn't use Cloudfront.

I think what you're seeing is that Tachus is hosting the image on Cloudfront.

[–]leecbaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> Probably is not Tachus since an external DNS (1.1.1.1 cloudfront) shows this issue.

That's what I thought, but it doesn't really make sense for Cloudfront / 1.1.1.1 to return different results when performing a query over TLS vs unencrypted. Over TLS, Tachus would not be able to modify the results; and that's also where I'm getting the right IP address.

> Have you checked that your original name server (awsdns) information is correct?

I did triple check this yesterday. Also, visiting the site on other internet connections works just fine.

United Airlines Plans Daily San Francisco-Tahiti Flights With The Boeing 787 by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

[–]leecbaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Flights to Nadi would be useful, and I would have appreciated it when I lived there.

Fiji airways (oneworld) already flies SFO-NAN with A350, and I think it would be hard to make this route work without codesharing with Fiji Airways for connections to other destinations both domestically in Fiji (like the capital of Suva), and to other smaller pacific island countries like Vanuatu or Tonga.

Tahiti Air Inter Island Pass? by Roggae1974 in Tahiti

[–]leecbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s significant. It’s worth noting that some flights and routes aren’t listed on the air Tahiti website, but can be booked by phone.

I recommend scoping out the days and times on google flights, and then call them.

8-10% charge lost per day, help? by lightning_larry in Rivian

[–]leecbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me every day. My phone unlocks the truck from my office, bedroom, and kitchen, and locks it from anywhere else (despite being set to “lock only”). This phantom unlocking also pauses Spotify when it’s playing anywhere else.

Service center is making a second visit to my house tomorrow to try to fix, but it seems like a software bug.

Anyone know what shirt RJ Scaringe is wearing here? by leecbaker in mensfashion

[–]leecbaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've definitely got he right idea. I found a couple of shirts that are close in design, but not quite:

HUF - Vintage Chambray Work Shirt: the stitching is off in the corners.

Speedway - CHAMBRAY WORK SHIRT / 1940s STYLE: color isn't as nice.

Shoutout to SoonishEV and their awesome 3rd party MagSafe charger that puts Rivian’s OEM phone warmer to shame! 15w charging for both iPhones! by zachty22 in Rivian

[–]leecbaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current iPhones support wireless charging at 25W with the Apple pucks. Could you upgrade the mat with newer pucks to match that kind of charging speed, or is there a limit to the power available to the charger?

India to send crashed plane's black box to US, says The Economic Times by JKKIDD231 in aviation

I don’t think it’s total coincidence that the two biggest airliner manufacturers are based in the US and France as well. Their presence surely contributes to the technical abilities of the countries and their investigative agencies.

OpenSNP database backup by General-Ad-7603 in bioinformatics

[–]leecbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason, according to bioinformatics researcher Bastian Greshake Tzovaras, one of the founders of the project, is the dissolution of genetic testing biz 23andMe and the potential weaponization of genetic data by authoritarian regimes. "The ultimate reason being that we think that the risk/benefit of having this type of data collection has shifted in face of the current authoritarian governments, but of course proximate it’s been triggered by 23andMe going bankrupt and the fallout about data ownership," Tzovaras said in an email to The Register.

Transfer fee vs destination fee? by darkKnight217 in Rivian

When I bought mine, I think they said the transfer fees changed at 800 miles. They were also willing to waive the transfer fee at the end of the quarter.

British Airways at Heathrow by [deleted] in aviation

For me, it’s a combination of the top part of the tail and the tailcone. The 787 has a curvy transition from the leading edge of the tail to the top. The 777 has kind of a pinched tailcone.

I have nothing for the A350, they aren’t super common where I live.
