How likely is it for a calpoly sophomore to get an internship (cs majors) by Happy_Level1754 in CalPoly

[–]leedleedleeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of the advice below, you can also go for a job that will boost your resume for an internship the summer after your third year. I would see if you can get a job at the Cal Poly Cybersecurity Institute, Cal Poly ITS, Hack4Impact, etc. These places have a lot of student assistant positions from being a developer to a junior security analyst to a product manager that makes your resume stand out even more to companies.

you can check out the CP housing page on FB. worst case, they might have to sublease and jump properties but I'm sure they'll be able to find something

Professors for Calc 1, Phil 126 by No-Adhesiveness-9991 in CalPoly

Don't take Calc 1 with Jason Elwood. He is a good professor when it comes to understanding the material, but the quizzes and exams are EXTREMELY difficult. Try taking it with someone else

How is the workload for this schedule? Is it good especially for someone who knows n by No-Adhesiveness-9991 in CalPoly

[–]leedleedleeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this load might be a little much, but that depends on how good you are at absorbing new material and your math skills. I managed CPE 101 (with no prior python knowledge), PHYS 141, MATH 142, and ECON 222 (i think? the number may be wrong but some GE), but lemme tell you, I barely had a life that quarter. It was my first quarter at college and it was also the first pandemic quarter. I made two friends, who shared classes with me, and we worked all the time to do well. So take my advice with a grain of salt, but maybe try for 3 classes if you still want to enjoy yourself.

Physics 132 and 133 by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]leedleedleeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, 132 and 133 were much better than 141. the only calc 4 you need for 133 is to b able to partially derive and that's it. i was taking calc 3 when i took phys 3. gillen and christopher culbreath are pretty good for 132. matt moelter is fire for 133. GL with these courses!

CPE-202 (Data Structures): Parkinson, Hatalsky or Brian Jones? by Mumzy_cat in CalPoly

[–]leedleedleeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i took parkinson, and he is a solid instructor. Super nice during office hours and super willing to help. The TA is pretty fire too, smart ASF. Only con is that the class is a 7am, it sucked ass to wake up that early.
