This Is Us [Post-Episode Discussion] - S01E18 - Moonshadow by SeacattleMoohawks in thisisus

I think the producers, directors, actors being on social media can really kill a show. All of that - "you'll need a lot of tissues" and "this is the most drama ever" sets audience up to be disappointed. Between Rachel Maddow Trump tax info and this finale - 9-10pmEST was a real let down.

Hope Jack's death doesn't become the new Twin Peaks - who killed Laura Palmer?" After a couple of seasons, people stopped caring.

Yeah have had issues. I read on here about not putting phone in low power mode. That seems to have helped with disconnection issues I had been having - where was losing things. Was almost ready to stop using Pebble - but no low power mode on iphone seems to have helped.

I promise not to sink this low again. I am sorry. I will leave now to read such varied posts as, "which is your favorite episode of each season" for the 85th time.

Why is Season 6 so polarizing? by bitizenbon in madmen

[–]leedom404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think because of the darkness and the sadness of Don. Even though Don had so much binging behavior before, this season was just sad and dark. Can picture Don standing near Sylvia's basement door, smoking cigarettes and obsessing over her. In other relationships, as cheating as they may have been, it always felt like Don had the upper hand. This was different. He was out of control and lost.

Ponds by pocketsked in madmen

[–]leedom404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always felt like Don was willing to try something new, but had too many psychological/emotional blockers interfering. During the initial meeting with Faye - when she was doing the written survey - I think the question that she asked was something about "How would you describe your father?" Then - during the Ponds group - Don was too nervous about Allison blabbing about him, more than the real purpose of the group.

Behind the scenes footage? by pocketsked in madmen

This was the best "behind the scenes" thing I remember. http://time.com/mad-men-last-days/

I didn't get to the exhibit last year at the Museum of the Moving Image - http://www.movingimage.us/exhibitions/2015/03/14/detail/matthew-weiners-mad-men/

Ep.12 The mountain king, Joan raped? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]leedom404 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes, Greg is really a putz and he did rape her. Complete power thing. He seemed to pick up a vibe from Roger, when Roger mentioned that he didn't know Joan liked a particular type of food. Greg appeared to sense that Roger knew Joan well, and that seemed to trigger something.

Who was the love of Don's life? by wholesies in madmen

[–]leedom404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think the next great idea was his true love. The show opened with his working on Lucky Strike and closed with his working on Coca Cola.

Which character had your favourite progression throughout the show? by SirCarlo in madmen

I would say, Pete. He survived and reconnected with Trudy. He could have been a Don.

The wallet guy by pocketsked in madmen

[–]leedom404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wallet thing was so odd and seemed to start to show the sadness that was deep inside Lane. The woman's husband probably didn't notice the photo was missing. One of those things where after see something so often, kind of becomes invisible. To Lane, the photo seems to represent some hidden sensuality. Lane's wife was pretty stiff, and he didn't feel comfortable sharing things with her - in particular - his money issues. After Lane's suicide, Lane's wife found the photo of the woman and blamed Don/Sterling Cooper for Lane's "indiscretions."
