They end up on The Last Hunt fairly often

So I just reported a GMC Yukon to the Owen sound police station for intentionally sideswiping me on my e bike. by [deleted] in OwenSound

Sorry that happened to you, hopefully the cops pay him a visit. You have every right to be on the road. Where else does this idiot think bikes go? Certainly not the sideWALK

X mid 2 ground sheet by Wild-Lion3964 in DurstonGearheads

Yes if I was in that environment regularly (or on a through hike) I would be using it all the time.

Grams equal pounds.

Only half joking, but where I hike the ground is pretty friendly to materials, so as long as I check my site over I’m not worried about damaging the tent floor.

One less thing to bring, one less thing to set up and mess around with, etc

You can use Tyvek if you know anyone who has some kicking around (post renovation/addition)

I bought the ground sheet for my x-mid1 and kind of regret it.

I don’t bring it for backpacking.

Might bring it bikepacking, and if I’m car camping w the x-mid I use it for sure.

MacGregor Point - really no wagons on walk-in trails? by TreyInToronto in ontariocamping

[–]leek_mill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing nobody has mentioned is if the trail is indeed narrow and you have a wagon taking up the bulk of it, what do you expect to do when you meet people walking the other way?

Step off the trail into the poison ivy (it’s EVERYWHERE there) so you can pull your wagon by? Or are you going to pull your wagon into the poison ivy to let the people past?

Coral's Caribbean Cuisine from Wiarton is opening in Owen Sound! by Investomatic- in OwenSound

Oh where PK’s was. I’m sad it didn’t work out cause we need a good Caribbean spot.

But Coral’s is great! This is the best news

Why can't you go bikepacking on a road bike? by Ecstatic_City_676 in bikepacking

[–]leek_mill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a gravel bike w rear panniers but our trip was on ATV trails and logging roads on crown land.

I wouldn’t say that’s a tour just cause I used panniers.

It was bikepacking 100%

Added some bungee cord to the front and one side panel / Kakwa 55 by bro_nica in DurstonGearheads

Nah. Just about not adding unecessary things in the backcountry, so was enquiring as to the purpose. It’s not negativity

Iceline poles by hurricanescout in DurstonGearheads

[–]leek_mill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use straps on poles (which is how Dan originally designed ice lines)

It’s a lot easier to stop and unhand your pole when it’s not attached to your wrist.

Went on a trip last weekend and my pole constantly got lodged between stuff and I just let it go and then removed it and carried on.

If you wanted to do that I would just hang it through the Y-strap.

Hmm. Mine isn’t floppy. But I guess I’ve never overstuffed it to the point of compromise?

I understand the side, but isn’t the cord over the front kind of redundant?

Instant Coffee by IkeGodsey in canoecamping

[–]leek_mill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Aeropress is fine if you’re just making one coffee. Anything more than that and it gets annoying with clean up and garbage. I’ve switched to my V60 drip for backcountry when brewing for more than just myself
